Painting a mussel suit

I have made a spandex predator body/ mussel suit and i a having trouble choosing the best way to paint it. I want to keep it as simple as possible but I want it to look as good too. There are so many ways according to the internet i'm not sure which way to go. The mussels are foam rubber. Can you please help me out.
