Painted a P2 mask

Yeah the mask worn by Kevin was huge I was watching the movie the other night and I never could fathom compared to the P1 how much bigger they went on the size of the head. If the teeth are the same size as the ones in the film then I would have sculpt around the teeth and hopefully it would have been accurate when it was finished, but then again if the mask is to be worn then I would cut the teeth to size to where it would not get in the way if the teeth were to move.

Also remember they made two different sized masks for P2. One huge size for the 7' tall Kevin Peter Hall, and another scaled down mask for the more average sized variety of stuntmen. Those smaller sized stunt masks were also the masks used for the Lost Hunter costumes and I believe the animatronic head Larry has as well, judging by the old pics of Kithunter wearing it so we could see what it looked like on a person of average height.

As far as I know, it's unknown which type of teeth the original for this sculpt were molded from, a KPH size head, or a stunt size head. Maybe Kithunter can clarify it if he knows. It would make sense if you think the teeth were oversized from a KPH mask and Usurper said he sculpted the mask more to the height size of all of use mere mortals that there would be a size difference there.

This is true Kevin Peter Hall was a very big man. As long as the mask fits and esdain is happy with it then that is all that matters.

Yes I already knew that. I was just stating that as a future suggestion that way everything that you buy as materials are the right fit or the right kind for your project. I do like the mask a lot it is a very detailed and I wish I had one. I can't ait to see the finished product.

Buying screen accurate tusks first and building a mask around them is ludicrous and anyone buying a mask and tusks separately is asking for trouble. Personally I think the upper and lower tusks are too big and need trimming. BUT it's your mask and if your happy then
Lee has made a mask for the real world and his proportions suit a wide audience with his tusks in the original sculpt spot on. What is the point in making something to fit a 7ft+ giant, as there can't be many Pred fans that size wanting to buy a mask. Sceen accurate sized props should be used for resin cast statues or dispaly only masks, not wearable ones unless you happen to be said giant. I know having screen accurate is very important to some people but I can't stand seeing averge sized costumes with bloody enormous masks and Bios.

Finishing on a positive note well done with your paintjob. Love seeing all this Pred stuff especially when the different stages are documented.

The sculpt was basically finished before i got offered the screen used mandible teeth, you can cut them down in size. each to his or her own.

Yeah, I think he's new and missed the thread where you actually sculpted the mask, Lee. OK, here's the scoop for all noobs, Usurper had the mask sculpt basically finished and THEN was offered castings of the screen used teeth to add to it. That's the only reason he didn't use the teeth that he already had sculpted for the mask. Because, seriously you can't get any better than castings of ANY real screen used pieces.

The mask was never intended to be 1.1 size, i mean the P2 hed was huuuuuuuuuuuuge, my mask is more sized to wear and not look like a teletubby.
