I recently made a project out of wood . I wanted to paint it black. I went to my local store and all they had was Rustoleum brand spray paint, not my favorit. It did the job but took forever to dry. And smelled like oil paint for days.
I would prefer an Acrylic lacquer, lacquer or even a water based paint.
What kind or brand of paint are you using (1) that comes in spray cans and (2) what kind are you using for air brush work?

thanks

Paint for wood....water based sealer/undercoat...enamel top coat...or enamel sealer undercoat, then enamel top coat.

Acrylic Lacquer is not suitable for wood.

I use acrylic lacquer for airbrush depending on the base coat.
