Paint removal question for the experts

Bit of a dilemma and could do with some help.

Currently reviving a resin BCI TIE fighter which has too many layers on. Need to get it back to the raw resin, but my usual paint removal methods aren't working.

Tried model strip and oven cleaner, but neither have touched the paint (which btw are car paints/primers from the auto store).

Short of sanding, which I don't want to do, anyone got any ideas as to what will eat through the car paint but not harm the resin?

I've used Testors' ELO (Easy Lift Off). But that was removing enamel and lacquer from styrene.

I soaked the parts and scrubbed them with an old toothbrush.

I'm surprised oven cleaner didn't work, I thought it would take anything off. Most resins are resistant to solvents so try acetone or lacquer thinner.

Try GOOF OFF (www.goof-off.com) graffiti remover professional strength,

that stuff stripped paint instantly compared to oven cleaner which I usually use.

Forgot to say I'm UK based so some products might not be available over here.

This paint is seriously stuck fast. Tried soaking it overnight in thinners- nothing!

Oven cleaner the same, tried the plastic bag method. Wouldn't even touch the surface!

If its car paint Nitromors will strip it but It might well eat your resin as well. Do you have a small piece you could test some on?

HTH :)
