Over the summer I was working on the round 2 Enterprise E. I assembled the saucer and began painting it, but I laired it on to thick and need to remove the paint. I would use easy off oven cleaner, bit I am worried that it will cause the impulse engines (which have paint on there external surface that needs removing) to fall into the saucer. What can I do?

I would use a fine sandpaper and carefully sand it down, very close to the base material. Then repaint it. I usually use many dusting layers when painting a model.
