Pacific Rim Drivesuit - Raleigh Becket

So I'm starting my new costume for next years Comic-Con. I have decided to team up with another cospayer and build the two white drivesuits from the beginning of Pacific rim.



I will probably use EVA and other foams to make this.

I have started on the chest and helmet. I used a PEP file to start the helmet and may make a cast of one so my friend can create his matching helmet.



I found some fantastic photos from the net regarding the chest and spine and have began to create my chest armour...



So that's what I'm doing Feel free to watch my build and I always like feedback! Good and Bad! I usually post my builds on 405th but you guys and girls my appreciate a Pacific rim build more! If you want to see older work I have done pop to 405th or my Facebook page (Dax79Cosplay)

I will be watching the other drivesuits on RPF and I hope i can help and others can help me!

Helmet WIP

Just a little update

So I have made a new helmet, its larger and I used a stronger card. I will fibreglass the inside soon and then resin the outside before using car filler to shape.

Inside now strengthened with fiberglass. Need to get some car body filler to add details to helmet before I can cast it!

Just a little update for you on what I'm up to! Its in a form of a video and I will post more as I build!

Helmet Update

Tonight I added the layer of resin to the solid helmet. I will let it dry then sand into shape.



I will then begin adding car filler to the helmet. Hopefully during the next week I should have a smooth helmet ready to have a silicone mold made for it!

Pacific Rim Helmet Part 2 - Fiberglass and strengthen

This is a short video showing the shell of the helmet before I begin with the car filler. This is my first time using fiberglass sheets and WOW! I'm so happy to be discovering it! Its a great material to uses, smells bad mind you.

I have began cutting my other armor bits out of foam. I will only cast the helmet. The rest will be EVA foam.

Just a quick update - I have began to add the car filler to the helmet and it looks to be a long slow proses. I will add some photos soon and post a new PART 3 video. I hope I get this part done successfully so I can get onto my suite! October 2015 is just around the corner lol.

Just to let everyone know. This build is on HOLD not over due to the second cosplayer dropping out of the act. I'm putting all my time into my deadspace and will return to this at a latter date.

Having the helmet sitting looking at me everyday will keep this project alive.
