P1 Rapid Fire Pulse Gun

So, I've gotten into the habit of scanning store aisles EVERYWHERE I GO (Including the grocery store). This past weekend, I happened upon this guy and saw potential for a really cool shoulder cannon. Picked him up at Target today for a whopping $9.99. Since I gave my P1 Bio an aged appearance, I've decided upon a theme: the final suit will be the same character, many decades after the first movie, thus explaining the rust. As such, the shoulder cannon will be an upgraded, more advanced, Mini Gun Cannon. Expect the final paint-up to match the one I gave my P1 Stunt Bio.

Let the addiction begin.....

I can't wait to see how this turns out, can't even wait to see the progress on it seeing how well you documented your P1 stunt bio.

Good Luck!!!!

First Post Updated: Some Mo' Choppin' - More To Come: 01.28.2011 - 1/2 Hour

Spent about an hour today at Home Depot and Michael's looking for this, that, and the other thing. Picked up some more QuikPlastik (Four tubes) and a bunch of hoses for my bio sculpt next week...

nice,.....i bet it's gonna be bad-ass

all kinds of stuff you can do with that thing ,....
can't wait to see it once it's done mang,....

*cheers* :)

Updated First Post: Final Chopping & Sanding Prior to rebuild: 01.29.2011 - 3 Hours

Waiting on some contact cement to dry, then I can start the first round of putty. Also, the back of the gun, top portion, has been cut down even further, to better balance out the design. More to come later tonight...

Updated First Post: Sand, Putty, Repeat: 01.30.2011 - 5 Hours

A LOT of puttying and sanding knocked out today. A LOT more to come (Shocking). Blew through five tubes of putty...

starting to see this really take shape ..awesome and inspiring build up. Glad you are having so much fun with this!

ooooooooooooooh outside the box thinking going on.

Well, the funny thing is, George and Lee, I'm not at all happy with the design right now and had a brainstorm on the way to the gym this morning (5 am + coffee + Jack3d = Spazzy brain). When I'm finished, there will more than likely be less than 10% of the original toy remaining. Such is the design process, eh?

The problem I'm having with it currently, is that this is SUPPOSED to be an "upgrade" to a P1 Cannon, as my costume, as dictated by my bio paint-up, will be P1 decades later. As you can see, the current project looks NOTHING LIKE a P1 cannon. Sooooo, I bought a 2' section of 2" pipe this morning, swung by 7-Eleven, and stole some coffee cup lids. Hopefully, you guys will see some major changes today, based upon my reanalysis of the design and use of ANOTHER four tubes of putty ;)

Thanks guys, for the comments. Keeps me going!

Added P1 Cannon Reference - Courtesy of carlart, via Jason, who was kind enough to snap pictures of his for me. Hopefully Carl has no issue with me posting this as reference. Of course, should that be the case (And I will PM him), it will be removed.

EDIT: Guess whose inbox is full. Should anyone have an alternative working method of communication with Carl, could you please let him know I am using his pics for reference? Thanks!

Good to know, Jason. Thanks!

Started the redesign by puttying up two coffe cup lids. By the way and for future reference, it takes one stick of putty to fully putty a coffee cup lid, Not going for exact replication, but what it to look more similar than it looks currently...

First Post Updated: Photochop Mock-Up of new Concept: 02.02.2011 - 1 Hour

Spent an hour this morning in Photoshop, developing a firm concept of the direction of my cannon design. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

It is really starting to take shape Brad! I like where it is going. If I had an constructive Criticism to give I would... but alas I don't! Its looking good so far man! Keep at it!

Ok, so I spent a while staring at the concept image you photoshopped, and I think the housing in the middle should be mOved to the rear of the cannon. Do up a couple different concepts showing it that way.

The way I see it if that housing is some sort of clip of sorts it might work better towards the rear of the cannon. Play with a little in Photoshop and see what sticks...

Interesting idea I hadn't even thought of since the initial concept was a mini gun and the multiple barrel is usually in the front. Though, it is alien, so why not, eh? I'm gonna mess around with it more. Thanks, Gene! How's the head coming, damn it?! I want UPDATES!
