I love the character Soldier 76 from Overwatch and wanted to make his main gun from the game. This was my first time building a rifle sized gun prop.
First I traced the outline on to Foam and cut it out:
I then glued them together to make the base shape of the gun:
Then I began cutting out pieces of foam for the various detailed pieces of the rifle:
After that was complete It was ready for paint, I first started with a base color:
After I finished the base coat I weathered it with acrylic paints and topped it all off with a matt varnish:
I'm happy with the results, maybe I went a little heavy on the weathering but I still think it looks cool. Now on to his pistol! :O
