Original screen worn A New Hope Vader gloves for Auction

Hey folks, I've been a big fan of RPF for years. I am also the photographer who took the Darth Vader photos. I am glad to see them here. I shot the photos with that level of detail because of the RPF. My goal when shooting something like this is to record it for posterity, and for someone to possibly replicate. And since some of these go into the hands of private collectors, the photos might be the only record available. It's the awesome obsessiveness of this community that I try to live up to in my work. Cheers.

Happy to do it.

It looks like an incredibly sharp image of that saber prop that floated around ebay and other auction sites for a few years. It had polaroids with it, but unfortunately is a bad fake, made recently. It was sold as a production used prop, and pulled from at least one auction site.

I knew it was fake the second I saw the even grenade rings.

The weird thing is the emitter plate wasn't the end of the saber. they glued another plate on top of it, completely baffles me

The piece was supposed to be the lightsaber that R2D2 shoots out in Return of the Jedi, which is only on-screen for a second. From everything I saw, it looked like the real deal. I say "supposed " because I am not an authenticator, and I could be easily fooled. I am aware of the tremendous effort that goes into authenticating these items, and those efforts continue even after the catalog is printed, if new information comes in, and a mistake was made, the item is pulled, or the description is amended. I am not speaking about any item specifically here, but items get withdrawn for many reasons, and inauthenticity is the rarest reason.

Thanks for the insight! I understand how complicated it must be to authenticate items, especially ones so high profile.

This one, unfortunately, doesn't match any of the 6-8 screen used/rehearsal sabers used for filming, even the one here in the image. I think I remember a couple threads on this very item on here (the RPF) but I can't find them.
