original model kits in SW

Has anyone compiled a list of original model kits used for star wars props and costumes?

I know several, primarily for the Boushh costume but thought a list along with what props would be cool information. I know parts of sw has some old info on there but I'm sure there is more.

On studioscale.com there is a page called "kit scans" where there are a LOT of kits listed. It shows the manufacturer, scale, and actual scans of all the parts within that kit.
The site places most of its emphasis on the 2 Millennium Falcon models, but there were a lot of the same parts used on the X-Wing, Y-Wing, and TIEs as well. It's a tremendous source for reference.

The kit parts scans on studioscale.com are there for research purposes, and the kits represented were not necessarily used on SW models.

(I know, because I scanned many of them.)

If you browse the studio scale forum, especially older threads, you'll find a great many of kits mentioned, but you'll have to list them yourself. Asking for kit lists is a touchy subject in the SS world. Just pop over to the forum and study up. :)

Well, I've been trying to locate all of the Boushh parts for a long time .... .although that project is in super slow motion ;) I have been collecting model kits that "might" have the remaining pieces. I figured if I can find more of the ones that were piled up on the kit bashing table I might locate the remaining pieces :)

These are the ones I know:

* MPC Darth Vader tie fighter:
Boushh boot greeblies / biker scout t-bits

* Tamiya Churchill crocodile :
Boushh bandolier piece

* Tamiya 1:12 Ferrari 312T4 :
Boushh costume ..... a bunch of parts.

* Airfix 1:24 harrier jumpjet GR1:
Boushh bandolier boxes / sides of helmet

* Renwal visible V8 engine kit:
many many parts all over in SW ;)

* Tamiya Yamaha XS1100LG midnight special motorcycle kit:
vibroaxe........still trying to find this kit

* Revell 1:32 scale F4-E Phantom II Fighter:
Boba Fett blaster, palace guard blaster...... waiting for kit to look at parts

Anyone else want to share knowledge of some actual kits?? :)

Jay helped me a great deal to compile scans for a Model Kit Reference CD which I'd like to have time to work on again.

Besides the Vibro-Ax, the Tamiya 1:6 scale Yamaha XS1100LG Midnight Special may have been used on the Biker Scout and A-Wing helmets.

Here's some misc info I've copied and pasted from various old scale model forum threads:
___________________________________

A-Wing:
I think the prototype was made from an F14 Tomcat and the solid booster rockets of a Space Shuttle.
Oh, I forgot. The two oval engines in the back of the main hull are the intakes of an F-16, If I am not mistaken. (the
4 round engines inside are from a Stardestroyer, I think.)

F-14 was used for prototype fuselage,
F-16 bottom intake was used for the round engines for the center on the back of the fuselage.
(as explained above)

TIE Interceptor:
Nope, but you can make your own if you want... Just get some people to help you look for kit parts. I know they
used parts from the Hasegawa Leopold and/or the Hasegawa Karl Morser... Also some Tamiya Race Car parts on
it, and possibly some of the same parts that are found on the Standard TIE

Speeder Bike:
There is something wierd about the Speederbike...
The fuselage is made from several formula 1 race cars: Ferrari 312T (the front part of the fuselage) Ferrari 312B,
(the piece that has the gun attached to it) and a Brabham BT46 for the part of the fuselage where the seat is and
the rolled up blanket. The steering vanes are the side panels from the BT46 and another car.

The odd thing is: The largest scale car is 1:12. That would make the speederbike the same size as the ERTL kit.
So I assume ILM built a prototype in that scale and then a larger version later. Anybody know anything about
that?

Holy Cow..
That is a nice bit if info ;)
Thanks for sharing Chris. You definitely know how to deliver :)

I have been wondering about the midnight special, if it was on the scout helmet. I wonder if there is a part in there for the main body of the shoulder bandolier box on the boushh costume ..... that's the one I'm trying to find. :)

Hey MonCal,

Have you identified the scope and all it's greeblies on the Boushh Helmet?

Steveo

Not really. I've identified a couple of the little greeblies on the scope. I have noticed a couple of parts on the tank / backpack. There look to be 3 more of the ferrari engines and 2 more of the harrier pieces on the tanks :) OH I've also noticed one more piece of the ferrari engine on the right side of the helmet, back of the ear greeblies... looking from the back of the helmet :)

It's funny.... you and I will be like 80 years old still trying to find all the exact pieces ;) hehe. I WILL get this costume done some day :p

I hear ya about being 80 and still looking for these pieces. It's a never ending battle. Oh well, gotta have a hobby, right? Good luck with the search. And chances of doing a laser scan of the helmet and rotoing it? Would be interested in hearing about that. Keep up the excellent work.

Steveo

Great list Chris, you can add these to the Tie bomber list if you like,.

1/700 Tamiya Japanese aircraft carrier Shinano.(the older version, not the one that's available now)
1/700 Tamiya German Battleship Scharnhorst
1/24th Airfix Harrier.

Cheers

Phil

Phil,

I have all of the parts used on the TIE bomber that have been listed in the past. Mind telling us what the 1/700 Tamiya German Battleship was used for?

Scott

Hey Scott

The battleship scharnhorst part is on the center box section of the bomber.
Looking at the bomber from the front, it goes on the rodney part, above and to the left of the part that looks like binoculars from the big flak gun..is it the flak36/37 ?....anyway here's a couple of pics of the bomber, unfortunately I don't have the web skills to highlight the area, but hopefully you can pick out what I mean from these.

True enough. Folks, this thread is for model kits used on props and costumes. Discussion of parts used on minatures takes place over in the Studio Scale forum. :)

is this not one of the speeder bike rear flaps?

Just seen it - probably picked up by you guys already
