Original EC-17 Scout Trooper Blaster Pistol Construction

Just bought the new lineage scout blaster from RS, very exciting, and has got me thinking about the original construction process. I know the master was supposedly carved from wood, with found parts for the sight and transistor on the side, and a metal trigger guard. Was that master actually in the movie? Or were they all resin casts? I've not heard anything about rubber castings but surely if they were using them in stunts there would be a rubber version? How many scout pistols were made? RS says their trigger guards are plastic. Did the resin guns use plastic guards? I thought it was metal. Maybe that's just on the master, but then why would the guard not be molded with the rest of the resin blaster? Really just interested in learning about the scout pistol, any information is welcome, and thank you!
