ORCA scratch build

I'm sure you have already seen this shot, but perhaps if not, it might be of help for the door height?

Thank you I somehow missed this when getting screen grabs, so I ran downstairs

and took this just for you. it's very encouraging.
My Brody looks like he needs a bit of a tan. Although I was supposed to swap his head with the wonderful one BLOOP did.

Great work as always - I appreciate your efforts at trying to get as accurate as possible. You mentioned trying to figure out what type of camera lens was used so that you can figure out the proper dimensions, which is something I've recently realized myself in trying to do digital sculpts from reference pics. I've also been doing my own deepfake videos, which has the same problems.
I've realized that lens and camera position can cause distorted facial features, particularly the nose, as it protrudes the most. For 3D modeling, I might get a sculpt looking "perfect" from one reference pic, but when I switch to a different pic, taken with different camera settings, the proportions will look much different and things don't line up right.
With deepfakes, you feed images into the AI, which learns how to recreate the face so that it can replace another face with it, but if your source footage/images include different camera lenses and focal lengths, you can get distorted and inconsistent results.
Anyway, sorry to go off on a tangent - didn't mean to hijack your thread with my thoughts. And I'm probably not saying anything you don't know, but I thought it was interesting that I was recently trying to work out lens distortions too.

The main problem with Jaws is that it was shot on 1960s anamorphic lens I believe. Unlike spherical lenses, there can be a change between capture and projection. Some lenses change the amount of distortion(amount of squeeze depending on the focus length. whereas the projection lens
has the same squeeze factor though out the projection. these are to the naked eye imperceivable differences untill you try to take measurements
or match screen shots.

so throwing all my drawings away and starting from scratch has been the way to go. I started with all the things I have real-world dimensions for.
plates, cups, wine bottles, tin cans, bottle screws, throttle, steering wheel, barrel, cleat, dive bottle, Benzo cooker, gas bottle generator, rifle, fish finder, compass, Brod, Hooper, and Quint. even polystyrene cups all reference.
This allowed me to start from the cabin and work outwards instead of scaling from the hull and making everything fit. No one can ever be 100 percent accurate and that is part of the charm of the ORCAs design it doesn't matter.

so far everything seam to be working out. Getting the cage right has helped with the rear deck and the hull shape.

Well she got here first day out on the water yesterday. she didn't sink. I did go without a polarizing filter and next time I'll take someone with me to focus. I hate the go pro footage but I couldn't think off another way just yet.

Fantastic.
Now you just need to figure out how to have the barrels moving in front (or behind) it.
Or have Bruce do it when he's done.

Did the club members enjoy the boat? How long was the run time on the battery? Love the way she moves through the water, I had to watch the video several times and watch just the waterline.
I love this video filmzy!

I had about 1 hours on the lake. It’s a public lake so there was a lot of people very interested. Which made concentrating on shooting hard. One of the club member drove the boat for me. They thing I’m mad for building another on. The head of the club has submarines and the all said I need to make Bruce. She sits in the water perfectly without weights. I couldn’t get the smoke generator working. I think its over filled. I think I’ll go back. I’m going back to my friend house to shoot close ups next. As last time was a disaster being that it was so cold.

I am soooooooooooo happy you had a good time and people enjoyed your (4 months SMH I can't believe it) of hard work!!!!
The smoke generator,......check the voltage going into it. Does the smoke generator have a fan on it? If it does, it really needs a separate battery source. With all the accessories we have I.E. lights it robs voltage. The generator needs full voltage to operate correctly. I found that out testing mine and many phone calls to the guy who built it. And Yes, don't over fill it. My unit is 2" x 1" and only take a quarter ounce of fluid that lasts for 4 hours of run time. I hooked my unit up to the ESC and motor leads, so when the the model is in motion the smoke unit works in forward and reverse. Have a Great weekend!

Great video flimzy:cool::cool:(y)(y):notworthy::notworthy: I think that with that type of fairly still waters, having some pontoons build at the same scale would really set the shooting into "real life"! The stance on the water is dead-on and everything seems to be well balanced.(y)(y)

Hi flimzy!
Really nice video! Congratulation to this beautiful ship! I hope I can build this fantastic ship with help of your 3D datas in the future in the same condition.
But I think I will need years for building.
Maybe I should first build the Delorean from Back to the Future, to save some time....
Best regards from Germany, Jens

Hi all yes I know this is too dark I was fighting the using a lens that wide open is only f14 and my cameras base ISO is 400, and I don't own any light small enough yet, for fill. so could only use a torch and the models practical's. I hear you saying why not wait until you have some lights to that I answer, because

As you know, lights are always tricky...but I like the general ambiance of the video.
