hi
Opaque paints are the main paints you will use for the colors you want. Main skin color.
then when they are applied, use the trasparent paints to add depth and more color.
I agree with Mr. Dunaway's assessment. I rarely use transparents though. There are a variety of ways to achieve a translucent effect without transparent paints. If you're interested in shading subtly i recommend chalk pastels after the initial basecoats are airbrushed. What are you painting may i ask?
for many years I painted military stuff 54 mm (tank, soldiers diorama and so on) now I'm very tired and boring of them so I'm starting to paint fantasy and pred was ever my favorit!
At the moment I'm painting pred 2 elder (sorry It's a recast but I didn't know about this fenomen, military are industrial no garage and I didn't know dan too), but It' s for me like a training....
I've allready got the death warrior and i'm waiting from dan for the wolf, pred2 s.hayes and the city hunter.
Usually airbrush whit budger 100 lg and now for the details I've just take an IWATA hp-bh (whow another level).
I love the Joe's mottling and traslucid tecnique, but it's drive me to crazy....or to traslucid or cover too many.....
Anyway I'm sure that the experience plays an important role, thank to all for advise and plese any tips are welcoming
Oh, so you are painting the Stranger P2 Elder kit, funny, as I just finished up another one.
Here is a pic to show the transparent colors.
Main body painted a pale off-white flesh, then I used transparent colors to add depth and variation.
Joe
