Ood Head Work in Progress

Hi All, Ive started to make an Ood Head, I havent done anything like this before, so all advice and constructive criticism is very welcome.

Below is my first pic,, when this is done I will move on to making a negative mold (never done one of them before either!!)

Hmmm... can't believe no one has commented on this yet, but the Ood looks great :D Will you be making all the tendrils from silicone?

Thanks, i really appreciate all feedback.

Yes i might do the foundrils in sillicon, what are the benefits? the original head was made from rubber latex, I'm not sure what the foundrils were?? I've not used sillicon before but to be honest, all this project is new to me, I'm learning as I go along.

Looking good, the shapes are all there, you'll need to separate the tentacles and cast them separately, silicone will be expensive to produce, and if its your first time making a mask it might be better using an alternative, you'll get great results with latex and polyfoam, or just latex.
the masks used on the show were foam latex, and i think the tentacles were silicone, not sure on that though.

That looks awesome. I watched Face Off on SyFy to get some ideas and techniques. When they used silicon one of their worries was that it was to heavy. Is that a concern with something like this Ood mask?

I wish I had the time to do things like this.....maybe this summer.

Nice work, I just watched The Impossible Planet for the first time the other day, I'd say you've nailed the look.

Thanks all,

You have NO idea, how much I appreciate your kind words, this is my firstbtime at this, and although I would really love to do this in foam latex, I have been doing some research and it's quite complicated, so I'm going to do it in latex for now.

What I don't know is: can I later try rubber foam or silicon using the same mold??
Any advice on that anyone is much appreciated.

Regarding runs, well that's not my intention, and honestly, I don't even know if I'm going to make a single one successfully :/ but I will be honest, if it all works out, that is a bit tempting...... HOWEVER I'm really not there yet and I have to say that Frosty (see comment above) and RaTchetrex have both done amazing oods And I've appreciated their input to mine. They also have/are running, so you might wanna look them up first......

Keep an eye on me though, if all goes well I hope to join them as Ood creators
