Hi all, ive posted a few times but this is my build that ive shown. For halloween my son wants to dress as the Terminator from T2. What would go better with the jacket and shades than his own electric minigun. Armed with what I had in the workshop plus a few choice items from homebase I have set to work.
Although I could have built in about 6 hours start to finish I need to get the welder out and dont have time todayy so it'll be finished tomorrow.
I started with the cheapest cordless drill I could find and took it apart. Removed the switch and the chuck and wired it to an old pc joystick handle via a 30amp automotive relay. I know the wiring looks a mess but I tidied it up before re-assembling the drill, shell. I ccoul provide a wiring diagram if needed but its just wiring in spot lights on your car.

I have made a quick body for the minigun from wooden batons and mounted the drill inside. Plenty of hot glue gun sticks in this build....lol.

Ive made the barrell from some foam card used for sign making. It cuts with stanley knives or a jigsaw. I cut out 6 squares and drilled through the centre and bolted them together. Using a 100mm waste pipe cutoff as a template I marked a circle on them and cut them out. Then every 60 degrees I marked where I wanted eack of the 6 barrells to go. Using 22mm waste pipe I cut 6 barrells at 600mm each.

Assembly of the barrell is nice and simple hot glueing each section as I go. With a centre steel tube which will later be welded to the drill end.

A quick dosh over with some satin black and the barrell is ready.

This is as far as ive got today. A rounded body and a clicker ( like the playing card in the spokes of our bikes we used to do) for nice shooting sound then spray everything black.
I'll post up the finished item along with my son in his costume. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it so far. Ive enjoyed making it so may make myself a true screen accurate model for myself.
