Old Bandai VF-2SS minus SAP

Back in 2007 or 2008, guess-timate, I took an old Bandai VF-2SS from Macross 2 and modified the kit so the valk had removable SAP armor.

It was a detailed how to build that I chronicled on a model site that has long since passed.

I find it amazing after all this time to find it referenced on a Japanese website.

Here is the original model and the 25th Anniversary release next too it.



Since I had a comparison photo, I'm more inclined to think it was 2007.

The original kit had no provision to remove the armor. For some reason my biggest annoyance was the fact that the wings were molded together and only partial sculpted.



Considering all that had to be modified and scratch built to fill in the removed armor. It was odd to be so obsessed with the wings.





I do think this was pre-airbrush and was all rattle can and hand weathering.
