Oklahoma farm used in film Twister devastated by real tornado

Huh, never realized that was shot way the hell up in the NE by Tulsa.

Hail didn't make it much down past OKC though. My folks were at the farm (Cotton Co., SW OK) and they got a ton of rain and flooding but no hail.

Late April through June is Tornado season though. We've lost 2 barns and the roof of the farmhouse to 2 separate tornadoes over the years. I can appreciate the irony in the story, but in general reporting on tornadoes in OK is like reporting on a sandstorm in the Sahara.

I mean unless it's a city leveler or a killer or funny irony (see this story) not really newsworthy. But I can personally attest to how much it sucks to clean up the aftermath if it happens to wreck your stuff. Hope they can expedite the insurance claim and get stuff back up and running in short order.

Thats one of thousands of homes damaged in the last 2 weeks here due to either tornados and/or softball sized hail. Yesterday most of Nothern OKC was hit hard.

Early May has always been bad in OK. I remember driving through Norman after the May-3 tornado (1999) and due to all the damage my boss was talking me through a bunch of neighborhoods (he used to work for Norman PD) to get to OKC. I was driving along and everything looked fine until I saw a Ram pick-up that was twisted so much that I probably could put my arms around it. The devastation of the area was numbing. One funny thing was that I drove up to the back-side of a national guard road block. The officer asked me where I had come from and got annoyed with me when I told him I was unsure since I was zig-zagging in and out of neighborhoods.
