Okay, who knows THIS Episode 1 blaster ?!

Hi folks, just out of curiosity (and could have asked the blastermaster himself first, of course @Odiwan72) but I found this pic in an article about Kerner Optical over at cgsociety, showing a guy working on blasters. The pic allegedly was taken during work on the Phantom Menace, but since it shows two identical blasters, I guess they could also be early Jango Fett prototypes. But since my blaster knowledge is somehwat limited beyond anything Naboo (not saying that I am an expert in that field anyway), I thought you might enjoy chiming in. And I must admit, I don´t like the design too much, its got too much of an "oh yeah, lets do something western-y" for my taste :\

Yeah, Aurra Sing's stuff was made by ILM rather than the UK prop department.
There's some good info about it in the Bounty Hunters masterpiece book (comes with 12" Aurra Sing figure).

She was watching the Pod Race if I remember correctly. It was her only appearance in the films.

While its no surprising you missed her in PM (she's there for all of about 1.5 seconds), I am curious: What movie DID you think she was in?

Maybe he was thinking she was just a char. from the comics. She's featured very prominently.

I SO wish she had been in AOTC and not Zam.

Yes, that's right.

I capped this for you from The Phantom Menace. Aurra Sing can be seen watching the pods go by... for two seconds, from 1:01:06 to 1:01:08.

I think a lot of people figure she's purely an Expanded Universe character because they have no memory of her from the films. There's so much happening in the pod race, it's easy to miss that two-second glimpse of her.

I feel kinda bad though that all of that effort went into making an actor or model or whatever she is look like Sing when she's only in it for 2 seconds. Gotta wonder what happened to all of her props.

From what I understood, she was supposed to have a bigger role initialy... but they cut it all out and stuck her in the pod race sequence so the character wasn't completely ignored in the film.

The marbled/mother of pearl grips are really, really cool. They're what sells me on this beauty. That and the BR double trigger thing.

Aaah, I DO remember her now. I didn't think she was in ANY movie. I remember seeing still shots of her and figured they were just publicity shots to fuel the hype..

Not sure about her props, but Michonne Bourriague is her name and here is a nice pic of her not in costume.

So is it true that Sing was originally going to be Episode II and was replaced by Zam Wesell? I've never seen anything near an official confirmation of that, nor an explanation of why the change was made.
