OK, so which one of you is Guy Raz?

As an addendum, I am curious as to which returning member Perite is. He/she seems a bit knowledgeable about the workings of the RPF to be a brand spanking new member with one post.

I just wanted to chime in about my decision to throw away the flash hider.

I have a hard time thinking of something that upsets me more than any action taken that harms a child.

Knowing now that GR had some connection to the replica that I bought just makes me sick. So I've decided that the one action I can take is to get rid of the piece in question. I choose to dispose of it and make a financial donation to a cause that I believe in.

Lots of people here have asked "what can be done?" I think the best thing that can be done is to keep information flowing. This is what the RPF is about at its best.

Matt brought to our attention that GR is back here. Along with most of you, I am grateful that the knowledge is out for anyone to read. What we do with that information is up to each of us.

Some of you call my choice overdramatic. That's fine. It's my choice. I am so completely repulsed by GR's actions that I simply want this item gone.

Ted.
Prefect42.

Well, you're talking about the past, so does it really matter at this point? What's done is done.

Well, we cannot in all good conscience hold one person responsible for past actions, and yet another wash their hands of thiers.

I think the entire point of this thread hinges on the fact that previous behavior is indeed an indication of what we can expect in the future. This is why people are banned, and not welcomed back. Because once they have wronged the community enough, it's believed that they would continue to do it again, given the opportunity. If there's one person who has proven this concept to be true time and time again, it's Guy Raz.

So, yeah. i think it does matter.

Of course the real irony is that the object in question is actually a German Machine gun part from WWII. So Hitler/Nazis was even more likely.

so--Ill be sure to keep my thoughts to myself from now on and concentrate on what brought me here in the first place--the desire to create and learn.

But why is this an "Ugly" thread?

I can get creative and come up with some reasons, but I want to know why you have labled a worthwhile warning and service to the RPF as "ugly".

I'm not sure I follow you here. Who is this other person you speak of? Are you talking about Guy Raz, or someone else now?
I don't want to misunderstand what you're saying here. I thought the point of the thread was to make people aware that Guy Raz may be either posting or reading the boards here.

I don't really think that there's any realistic way to keep him from reading the posts here. Posting, that's something the mods will have to figure out how to implement.

*edit*

I see now. Well, I guess you'll have to see if JR he can be held accountable then too. I geuss that even more people could get indicted in this. Best of luck with that, but you know how stuff works here just as well as I do. (sorry if that sounded snotty. It honestly wasn't meant to)

'Cause it's 27 pages of Dominating the RPF badness that could've summed up its usefulness in one "Who is Guy Raz?" paragraph sticky by a mod. Ditto the entire sub-conversation on "What You Can Do About It." Perhaps it would be best not to keep this scumbag as the headline post ad infinitum.

Wow. SO many posts by first-time posters choosing to post in THIS thread for a first time and -- Gee whiz -- NO identifying information in their profile...

For the record (and this is purely and objective observation based on your written word) your verbiage comes across as either someone who is attempting to deflect the attention from Raz (which would be construed by most as indirect support), or someone who really doesn't like the RPF (sort of reminds me of the days of prop board wars).

And ya know, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that the best play for Raz supporters is to STFU and not state your peace (if you wish to have a peaceful life on the RPF or in this hobby). So anybody who posts anything even remotely resembling a defense of Raz (especially as a FIRST post) comes across as highly suspect.

Then again maybe I'm daft and have a warped sense of interpretation. What do the rest of you think?

I guess what flabbergasts me is that Jedirick, the owner of the RPF, knew about Guy’s involvement from the very beginning but kept quiet about it. Where’s the outrage there?

Whether it is appropriate, ethical, or moral to participate in a project with Guy is an individual judgment call. But the knowledge that Guy was involved from the beginning and through the present was certainly material information that everyone had a right to know up front.

The RPF makes it a bannable offense to front for a banned member, and yet they condoned such behavior in this case. Raz was promised two units for his involvement. Isn’t that a profit? Doesn’t that taint the project? Doesn’t Raz’s involvement in any capacity taint the project?

Yet the RPF itself knew what was going on and kept the information from its membership. Didn't they have a right to know so they could make up their own minds?

How can this be countenanced?

I posted my previous post before even reading this...

Agreed. Perite, share with us a litle about yourself. Please, we're all ears...

what do the rest of you think?

I think there is an obvious difference between Raz designing the original part, and him still being involved with the approval process of the project (as well as receiving compensation for said project). The CAD drawings represent a project done by a guy (no pun intended) who's identity at the time was still unknown.....this current part, if what is being said is true, represents a part that has a convicted child molester involved and receiving compensation for his work.

How is this not clear??

OK - I think that this thread has served its intended purpose which was to advise us that GR is lurking inthe shadows around here... Can we agree to let this thread die in favor of the admins looking into what's been said. If further rpoof of the true identity of a sockpuppet is revealed then another thread could be started. IMO 27 pages is WAY more attention that GR deserves...

Peace,
Jedi Dade

On another forum, darkknight0667 said the following:

Rick knew that I was taking over the project, that I would be using Guy's drawings, that I would be having him approve the prototype (at least if I remember correctly he knew this), that no money was going to be going to Guy and that I intended to donate the profits to charity. Rick had absolutely no other dealings with the project during my tenure at its helm because I moved it off the RPF entirely (and I doubt that he had any afterward, either). The only reason he even knew as much as he did was because (at the time) he was the one in charge of the Junkyard and I wanted him to be aware of what was happening with this "tainted" project. To the best of my knowledge, he never "dealt with someone he would never let back into the RPF".

Jedirick knew that Guy Raz was involved. Now, it's up to everyone to make up his own mind whether the specific circumstances are justifiable. But I also heard that Raz was promised he would be compensated with two of the units. Isn't that a profit? Also, Raz's very involvement, in the minds of many, irreparably tainted the project, no matter the circumstances. And knowing Raz as many do, the fact is that it would allow him the opportunity to continue to be involved in producing props for the RPF. Is that the kind of forum you want? Is it cool that projects involve a silent partner who happens to be a convicted child sexual predator? I'm not saying it's cool or uncool, I'm just asking the questions. Please don't shoot the messenger.

So, according to darkknight0667, Rick knew that Guy was involved, and decided that the circumstances were acceptable. Maybe they were. Maybe they weren't.

But...and it's a big but....

Is it right not to let the RPF membership know the facts up-front and let people make up their own minds?

To me, that's the real issue. One of the principal people in charge of the RPF knowingly allowed a project to proceed with the active involvement of Guy Raz. Whether you believe that the specific reasons were OK, was it right not to give the membership an opportunity to make their own minds up about this?

I'm not convinced that letting the thread die is the right way to go. Seeing as how the number of posts and views suggests that people are itnerested in discussing this topic, learning about potentially harmful people in the hobby, and protecting themselves against them.

I'm hoping that the mods are indeed looking into things, but I don't think that this fact (and your apparent dislike of the subject matter) is reasonable cause to shut down a thread that has produced some valuable discussion, and a whole mess of awareness.

If people want to agree to let the thread die, the best way to do that is not to post in it. There hasn't been a single "bump" post in this entire discussion, so it's not like the thread is treading water.

On the other hand, I guess I agree with you, now that I think about it. IF the forum choses to let the thread die, it will die. Until then, I think there's still some valid discussion, and some reasonable venting of frustrations to be had here. Perhaps you can contribute to the threads downward momentum in your own way, by simply not posting to the thread again :)

I do believe there's a pile of sand waiting in the OT forum if anyone wants to go bury their heads in it :lol

Perite... What is your motivation in attempting to denigrate JediRick and the entire RPF as a whole?

Just tell us why you're going in this direction?

I predict the following will happen:

--The thread will be locked.

--IPs and IMs will be monitored, probably leading to dramatic smokescreen pronouncements.

--Red herrings will be grilled and served.

--Rabbit holes will be dug.

--There will be no accounting whatsoever from the RPF administration.

--At least one more person will be falsely accused of being Raz.

--Less articulate members will unwittingly impale and burn others with their pitchforks and torches.

That's all well and good. But now the truth is out there that Jedirick knew that Guy Raz was involved in the project. Not Gabe Galt. Guy Raz.

Do with that information what you will.

My work is done.

Ta.
