OK, so which one of you is Guy Raz?

Hehe... it was more in the sense of searching for Raz and then having a new guy say he's an old guy and with a few select hints people recognize him as the old guy... but is there proof he's that old guy or just a new guy pretending to be the old guy who was... oh hell... now I lost track of what I was saying...

Skee... I don't know you, so sorry if you find this example offensive... was just for a little paranoid humor. Let me know and I'll remove it.

No worries at all dude. No offense taken whatsoever. No need to remove it.

Hmmm, I guess it would be kind of hard to prove someones identity over the Internet. I would guess that the IP trace is definitely one of the more definitive ways to trace where a message is originating from, but it doesn't exactly tell you the identity of the person him/herself.

One reason I wasn't really forthcoming with past identity before was due to the fact that some of the previous (current?) Mods didn't really like me too much after some heated debates and IM conversations, and to be fair, I didn't really give them any reason to. That being true, I was trying to keep myself out of the spotlight, and not attract any attention that might bring down judgment upon me for actions long ago past.

I DID get denied membership several times in the past after I left, which I kind of expected.
I decided that perhaps enough time had passed that old grudges and hatchets would be gone and buried, and I could go back to being a more mellow participant, rather than a soldier in a fight that I had no stock in.
I happened to browse the boards a while ago when registration was open, and so I signed back up. I chose a user name that was something that certain people would know me right away, (It sounds like the last part of my last name)

Nightrider... to ban this guy is not to make things safe - at least not how I see it - but to say... oy, move yer arse from this pooch.

Or something. :angel

Cool, that's cool! :)

But... that nick sounding almost like last name thing... that's almost too cruel not to comment on... but I'd rather not. :lol

Well, the first two links you posted are blocked to non-ezboard members. Can a brutha get a synopsis?

The first gives a bit more information on a project that Raz is currently involved in, and the second gives his parole officers contact information.

I think it would be appropriate for the mods to investigate Raz's connection to the MG-81 project. I think there's been plenty of proof posted in this thread.

Wow, just saw this. It's interesting that some of the old-timers have gone on to other things, some are still around, some have left the hobby, etc etc.

But the creeps never really seem to go away.

Sigh.

Well, if you were a newbie, I´d ask you to define what "old-timers" mean in your opinion, but considering you´re some two years older on the RPF than I am, I might as well keep my yap shut..... :)

Man,
I dont know anything about this Guy person but it sounds like he has left a bad impression. On the other hand it sounds like he contributed a lot of good stuff while he was here.

Anyhow--the poor dude doing the muzzles is really getting slammed for something that really doesnt seem to be his fault. Sounds like he inherited the project and HAD to deal with this Guy to get final approval.

Everyone was all hot to get the prop and then wham--

I do not in any way shape or form agree with the things that this Raz did, but sounds like you are all hanging the deputy with the prisoner --to use a metaphor-- Was there anyone else that Machina Artium could have gone to to get the final approval?? If people suspected things why didnt they offer this alternative instead of roasting him after the fact?

The more things I see on this site--even tho I am a new person here--the less I like.

Lots of good talent here but wayy to much body slamming:unsure

Well, as they say, ignorance is bliss. I recommend you take some time and read through the thread. Nobody is denying the contributions that GR made to the hobby, be it as Raz or Gabe.

What IS happening is that his contributions are all being rightfully marred by two or three key pieces of information. One is that he's a convicted sex offender. Read all about it on yahoo. two is that he defrauded the entire RPF for a year or so by hiding his identity and pretending to be someone else.

if that's not enough in your book to taint your opinion of a member who made a few discoveries and finished a few projects, then I don't know what the heck would, short of murder.

Door is to your right. Feel free to leave at any time if you cannot stomach the reactions of a number of people who can better understand the position they find themselves in by dealing with this person, either known or unknown to them.

Also, for the record, no project on the RPF "requires" GRs approval. The fact of the matter is, he was involved in the project behind the scenes. The person running this project knew this. What I cannot say for certain is if the person running the project knew of Raz's past, and the fact that he was banned from the RPF. I'll leave that to other people to prove or claim. My guess is that he had full knowledge, but chose to ignore it based on the assumption that Raz would be able to deliver the best, most accurate dimensions.

Understand this part very clearly, please. If this is the case, then this user knowingly and willfully engaged in commerce with a known sex offender who has been banned from the RPF numerous times, under different aliases.

Does that sit well with you?? Now that you know a little of the situation, does that help you to understand the "slamming" by others?? Would you want something in your collection that was built buy a banned member who spent two years in jail for trying to seduce a 13 year old student of his over the internet?? I sure as hell wouldn't, and it sounds like a lot of people on the RPF agree.

If anything, I think this speaks VOLUMES about the good character of the user base here, and suggests that there are some lines that NOBODY is willing to cross simply for a shiny new toy. It's a GOOD thing that people want nothing to do with this person. It shows that moral values are more important than Solo blasters. And I say thank god to that!

The guy obviously doesn't understand what's going on, or what Raz is all about.

That said, there's no reason to scold like an RPFather; I'd try explaining things with a bit more restraint. I'm sure you're not concerned with this new guy being a friend, but that's really no excuse for being unfriendly.

Just my opinion.

At the very least:
f. discussion of banned and/or deactivated members, including posts regarding products and services offered by ex-members

I'm not sure how the CoC relates to the flash hider offering, but I will say this, I'm surprised at how much venom Kris attracted for defending Raz and how LITTLE venom Raz's behind-the-scenes involvement in a project garners. Kris is being completely open and honest in his dealings with Raz.

Is he the only one on in the world who can do CADD? Is he the only one in the world who can approve a flash hider? Kurtyboy mentioned that people still bought the MR blaster. Did MR know Guy was Guy?

Maybe the guy shouldn't have come in swinging in the first place?

Damn! That's the first time I've clicked on your link G! Nice site!

IIRC Master Replicas found out who "Gabe" was when the RPF did and by then the project was already off into production in China.

Eagle Maniac,

I don't think people have a problem with Clay making this part. The problem is that he is still working with Guy, to finish this project.

Once Guy was booted, He could have finished up the project without him. There was no reason that he had to be sent a copy for final approval.

That statement right there, means that Raz still has a hand in this project, however little it may be.

That is why people are up in arms about this.

Guy pulled the wool over a lot of our eyes. Those that are still working with him and are not caring what he is, for the profit of the all mighty dollar, sicken me.

If several members of this forum participated in the "discovery" of this part why can't a blueprint of this flash hider be published here?

Isn't that the whole spirit of cooperation that is supposed to go on here.

Then people could make their own.

I guess I don't get why anyone would need Guy's approval on a flash hider at all. It's not like he invented the thing, or created the original prop.

Aside from that, I fail to understand why anyone would continue to seek his approval on anything at all, once they found out who he was and what he was convicted of. *shudder*
