Official Star Trek Phaser Thread

Hi Tom.

I'd like to be able to help you out on that, but I don't have all the pics/etc that I need to PDF it right now.

I'm going to start a thread here on the refitting, because I'm starting a refitting this very evening, and we can all do it together. Plus, we'll be able to share ideas along the way and we will all be better off for it :)

USSCassiopeia, I'd be super interested in your step-by-step mods to an AA Phaser as I have 6 of these with metal nozzles. Can you do a pdf of it to email to me?

You guys have inspired me. I just ordered the WOK Phaser from Rodd.com. I hope it's not too difficult to assemble.

no problem trekprops.de

but i am still not sure what colour to go with
should i use the original terracotta or go with the more standard phaser colours
let me know what you think

Well, you can add me to the list of new AA owners thanks to this thread(what's that make, three of us?).

Also, these pics :

almost look like the pistol was vac-formed. In the first one, the two switches below the shroud(I believe they're the slide takedown lever and safety on the Beretta) are so soft they've got that "vacced-over" look to them. And in the second pic, the pistol on Spock's hip shows what looks like a mold line but it doesn't appear to be straight down the top. It almost looks like an overlapped vac shell that was trimmed in a hurry. Judging from the trashcan pic a lot of these were made for the production. I wonder if they ran a bunch of plastic stunts to save time over a rubber casting.

Well the prop on the gridlines there is owned by me... it was pumpkin-colored resin when I got it, and I painted it black. So definitely no vacforming on that one. Tho I agree it looks soft.

I was told it was likely recast off of a foam-rubber prop that was used in the show. So I guess the foam rubber phaser might have the soft look and obvious seam.

Gotcha. I thought there might have been a chance since apparently some of the TOS stunts were vacformed, but I defer to your expertise in the matter. Nice piece by the way. I thought it was screen-used. Guess that'll teach me to read the threads more carefully. :)

By the way, I also just picked up an old Playmates Cricket(still in the blister pack and everything). I saw it while browsing Ebay for an AA and remembered being in KBToys when they came out and not having the money for one. Score.

Oh I'm no expert, I only "know" what I've been told. :lol

My resin assault phaser does look authentic tho, doesn't it.

Playmates Cricket (sure it isn't a "Galoob" Cricket?) was way oversized tho as I recall.

You know, it is the Galoob cricket. I saw tons of Playmates phasers too so I had that stuck in my head. The Playmates looked like a brick now that I think about it. :lol

I was thinking about getting the PM Assault phaser too, but I'm waiting for more info on the MR. It should look nice next to my FC. Damn I love that thing. Freakin metal.

Does anyone have a source for stands for the ST:TOS Phasers? There have been some good-looking, simple ones in this thread.

I did the ones for Phase Pistol.

I also do a combination stand that holds the phaser and communicator, like this:

Thank you. :D

BTW - you have a very nice collection........I just clicked on your link.

Thanks. I only have a smattering of Trek items and I obviously need to get them on display, too. You'll be a big help there.

Here are some Phasers built by Todd M. I do not think anyone has posted pics of his Phasers in this thread. I do not own one (wished I did) and I believe only a few were made. I am posting these with the owner's permision. Enjoy.

I'm fortunate to own one of TM's phasers, one of the last ones made. They really are beautiful pieces.
