Here is an additional Pic to add to Phase Pistols Pics.. Thanks Karl....
Top Phaser ... Castillos Yesterdays Enterprise Phaser Replica.. created by the one and only Ed Miarecki himself.. ..
Middle Phaser.. Common seen version, light grey with sticker on top.. clear bubble
Bottom Phaser.. Comic Book Version.. front chopped off and small offset emmitter added, Black sticker, little greeblie ontop, Black Bubble....

the WOK P2 design was ok on its own but i never liked the removable p1 that shot out the rear, with shutters closing the p2 front, now the p1 rear.Â
always figured it was a good way to get gut shot if the electronic went screwy.Â

Is that some kind of fan rationalization for how the phaser is supposed to work? I remember some TMP design sketches from preproduction, but I don't recall all that stuff. :confused

Thanks for the compliments.. Its nice to actually have something to show off once in awhile.. I usually get blown away by yalls great looking props.. but its nice.. that even a poboy can thrill yall every now and then.. Thanks its appreciated.
yea I thought the leather wrapped phaser was just a phaser in Kirks wall collection.. but apparently in TNG ep.. the phases are old adn wraped to keep them usable or something like that..
What is the eps # final mission.. I got the set.... which dvd is it on?..I never saw that one.. and want to go check it out..

in the Weapons Technical Manual from Star Log by Shane Johnson it shows what i mean.
it could have just been done for this book but i figure it had some basis in how they meant to do it.
the p2 is as you see it , then the front section of it from the emitter back to behind the buttons at the line pulls out forward. revealing a small emitter . you turn it around and use the pad upside down {buttons may reverse function when body is seperted}
the original front emitter closes and the smaller emitter is now used for the p1.
wish i could scan the pic.
i never heard of any other way to seperate the p1 from the p2 in this model so i assumed it was correct.

Lots of "made up" stuff in the Shane Johnson books.
You can see in the preprod sketches above that the p1 was definitely intended to separate, and the screenused WOK phaser (in the Profiles pic I posted above and now on display in Seattle) there's a deep groove where the separation plane is, implying a removable p1. The Rodd.com kit does not separate however.
Still I dunno where Shane Johnson came up with this "you use it backwards and there's another emitter in the rear" concept. That just seems... unlikely. :rolleyes
Seriously tho, I do like the TMP concept design quite a bit... it seems to fullfil the "original design mandate" very well, perhaps even better than the actual prop used in TOS: a handheld cigarette-pack sized phaser one, which snaps into a pistol grip that amplifies power.
Both the p1 and p2 configurations share the same emitter and controls. Very elegant.

I like that design quite a bit, I'd like to have a good "working" one in the collection. Those cycling LEDs on top are key.

i agree.
i believe that model is the best that shows a possible future sleaker generation of the tos p2.
was the angle on the bottom of the grip ever explained. thats the only thing i dont like on that model.
to bad the p1 did not get any air time {did it}
it does follow the original theme nicely. the others go way off especialy the combat type. it looks like it should be before the tos.

Wow. Another great Trek3 phaser. Well I'm jealous.
And yeah, the Assault Phaser... well you know I really like that one too, despite the fact that it's just a Beretta M93R with a cowling on top. :rolleyes
The AP is on Master Replicas' list for 06, too, so that will be something to watch.
Meantime I have these in the Collection... first up is a casting which (I'm told) was made off of a screenused dummy prop from Trek5. Ugly as a lump but I admire its "authenticity".
Next we have a more "standard" replica of the Trek6 phaser, which many people have... this has a tiny p1 inside which is held on with magnets. Frankly I don't think this design was "meant" to have a p1 inside, it's just too ridiculously tiny (smaller than a TNG cricket even). The actual prop seems to have a 9 volt battery in that position to power the lights; I think the mini-p1 was invented later. But what do I know.
This piece has no metal parts but it's nicely painted.
And last we have a very nice resin AP with metal parts and a brass ID tag. Very sharp. :thumbsup
All that and I STILL don't have one with a removable clip. :lol
Well hopefully the MR will come thru with the goods.

Here's a pic I found somewhere... I think it's the Trek IV "Klingon Phaser".
Kirk uses one to zap a doorknob too I think.

I got a Phaser Story.
When Greg J was tasked to do the phasers for one of the later Movies. He basically BOUGHT REsin castings at a CONVENTION....repainted them...and used them in the Next Film.
It was cheaper and faster.
So he BOUGHT Knock offs of his own work.,....and made them SCREEN USED.
Ironic huh?

well they stole a Klingon ship so i guess it had a weapons locker.
