OK. In addition to my prop fixations, I also collect DC comics toys. Today Matty.com was supposed to debut their "fixed" site for the monthly sale of Ghostbusters, DC Comics andM Masters of the Universe exclusive toys.
It was by far the worst experience so far with Matty.com. A complete, utter craptastic fustercluck.
My previous worst experience with Matty.com took me almost an hour to get an order in. Today it took me over ninety minutes to order two lousy toys. I logged in at 11:45 AM, 15 minutes before the sale started so that I could at least spare myself the log-in hell. At noon, when the sale began, so did the troubles.
Every single step of the process involved prolonged waits for the system to repeatedly refresh itself with the new improved "White Screen of Death." Now, instead of warning me not to manually refresh because I might lose my place in the queue, I was warned that I would lose my place in the "waiting room." That seems to be the extent of the promised improvements. Oh, and Digital River (Mattel's fulfillment partner) closed the "back door" DR server that used to be another way to order--this may be why things were even more overloaded than usual today.
After waiting over ninety minutes, I abandoned my PC and Firefox and got on my iMac and started manually refreshing using Safari. I practically wore out my mouse with the constant clicking, but I ultimately did get through to the order page, the payment page, and did receive confirmation of my order from Digital River. The PC did not get through to the site AT ALL for another seventeen minutes.
This does not bode well for the PKE meter sale in two weeks, which promises to have not only the usual crowd of toy fiends trying to buy, but also the likes of us AND general Ghostbusters fans as well.
My current plan is still to try to get as many as I can if I can get in, and share the rest here for cost and shipping in the Junkyard. Good luck, everybody.
