Official Ghostbusters PKE Meter Prop

The statement sounds good considering their last GB release was available for over a week.

Actually I don't know if that is a good or bad thing, it was another 6" Egon in another outfit pose, but it still sold out in a matter of days... Comparing a reposed 6" figure (a multiple character for the series) to the unique and new type of 'prop' offering of the PKE is well Apple to Oranges...

Matty knows full well what to expect from the 6" GB figure line, so it's pretty easy to set a run number based on previous sales figures and be close to the target demand... The PKE offering is a complety different beast with little previous sales data to base demand upon right now, that leaves room for error both ways... They can make sure it remains a collectible that is inline with the sites purpose by low balling the number or they can over produce... My gut feeling is that they will low ball a safe number, to assure they maintain it's collectible status and keep inline with other offerings that sell out usually very quickly... Not to say they number will be totally low balled but I wouldn't expect it to be high balled at all..

@Manwoaname

That could be a good point, but they could be saying specifically that they are handling this differently. That's what I infer from their statements, or else they probably wouldn't say anything at all about the availability.

that is the point though. you're comparing a prop replica to an action figure. they havent sold prop replicas yet. consider the slight slight, cold day in hell chance they make a proton pack, would you rather them compare sales to their action figure line? especially based on the previous month's repaint/reissue/variant?

i wouldnt. i wouldnt even want it compared to a regular release figure. its its own seperate beast, more of a role play toy, than an actionfigure.

honestly im hoping its limited to 1 per customer..

you and everyone else. and every scalper's friends.

im counting on the usual website down garbage mattycollector's been notorious for since the start of the website, and a very large amount of people being empty handed and pissed off.

im going to give it a fighting chance. i want atleast 1. im going to try to order 2. both for myself, neither for resale.

I'm ordering two and partnering up with a buddy of mine. If we don't need them, I am going to sell mine in the junkyard for the original price.

I plan on doing the same thing. Mattel has always had a limit of 10 per customer and I don't see them changing their policy for this one item. The most recent GB offering (a repainted version of an already-released figure) did last longer on their site than most of their offerings. But it was a figure that the figure collectors already had, the only difference being that Egon was in an unslimed jumpsuit and holding a tiny PKE meter. Oh, and he came with a stack of library books. I expected it to last a bit longer than their Masters of the Universe offerings, which invariably sell out in minutes and clog the site with traffic on sale day.

I am a bit optimistic that Mattel may address the number of products available, but only a bit. They have been promising to address inventory control and site overload, as well as dreadful customer service from their fulfillment subcontractor (Digital River), and have done NOTHING in almost two years to improve the experience from buying from them.

I don't care how wonderful the PKE meter prop is, I am NOT going to be spending 45 minutes trying to break through the Matty.com "white screen of death" while my order is in limbo. If I don't get lucky right away, I'm coming here or to eBay. If I do get lucky, I'll share that luck here.

A source at Mattel has mentioned on a toy site q & a that the Cyber Monday sale is going to consist of over 20 toy items that have already sold out in previous months. Mattel is planning to release the limited stocks that they have previously held back for replacements and returns on things like Justice League and Masters of the Universe. There was no mention of anything new being added to the list of Cyber Monday sale items. This means that the earliest we will likely see the PKE meter is the regular December 15 sale date. Cutting things a little close for the holidays, but there you go. If anything changes or a firm sale date is released I will post here ASAP.

Okay so let's review.

This is a problem website and there is some trick to making it happen.

What was that again?

LOL. "click Here to view related products." Everything Sold Out. LOL

Thanks for posting.

Wow, and it's going to be released separate from other products... MIGHT make it easier to get one?

WON'T make is easier to get one. I have been online at 12 noon (ie: 3am here) for just about every release for the past 11 months. Last month was ok (Roboto and Zodac only - meh) but every other month has been a nightmare as the pi$$ant server tries to cope with demand. Clearly Mattel know about the level of demand and clearly there is no motivation to change the system or it would have happened by now.
Plan for pandemonium on 1 December.

Sorry to be late posting this; the malware problem kept me away. Yep, as stated above, Mattel is having a special, separate sale day just for the PKE meter prop. It goes on sale on Dec. 1st, 9:00 AM PST/12:00 Noon EST. The price is a flat $60.00 and the limit is 10 per order: http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/...DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.220728600

This is actually fantastic news. I was convinced that we would have to share bandwidth with all of the He-Man/Masters of the Universe collectors on the usual sale day of the 15th of the month. I firmly believe that this is what usually causes the Mattel servers to crash on sale days.

As for tricks to dealing with the Mattel site: 1) Establish an account in advance. You will have to place an order to do so, but you can cancel the order at the last (payment) step and your account will remain in Mattel's system. 2) Log in to your account about 10-15 minutes before the sale starts to avoid the "white screen of death" when the site is overloaded with traffic. 3) If you DO get the white screen, you will be notified that the screen is actually refreshing automatically every three seconds and if you manually refresh you will lose your place in the queue. THIS IS NOT TRUE IF SAFARI IS YOUR WEB BROWSER. Mattel has admitted that auto-refresh does not work right with Safari. I personally use Firefox, and I personally ignore the Mattel message and refresh manually. Having experimented with both ways, this seems to work best for me on my Intel iMac.

Good luck, y'all!

So, still looks like a limited run. Anyone want to buddy up with me? We each try and buy two, covering the other person. And if we both get PKEs though Matty, we've got an extra to give to another member, put on the bay or in the junkyard.
