Another PKE arrived in MN today

I got to play with it for a little bit before I put it up as my sons x-mas gift.
My thoughts.
Packaging: The packaging was neat but not the orgasmic awesomeness that a few reviews on Youtube said. The comments on the box (especially the EPA one) wasn't needed.
I will say the box arrived without a mark on it though and I was surprised the white box was just set into another box with no padding.
PKE:
- Well worth the $60 for anyone who has been wanting one and couldn't justify the cost of a replica one. To get a working almost accurate prop for under $100 is unheard of. Bring on the trap Matty, you have a customer waiting.
- The weathering is pretty much a waste for me but not that bad. I would have preferred a clean version since the movie PKE doesn't really have any weathering I could see. I guess those who want to try and make it more accurate or smooth out the wording on the handle have an excuse to do so now.
- The weight is good and it doesn't feel too heavy or so light that it comes off as cheap when using it.
- This thing is loud! I wish there was a way to adjust the volume besides off and on.
- Instead of the knob controlling the speed of the lights and sound I wish the speed was medium at startup to half opening, and then would ramp up to full speed as it opened completely. Use the knob for volume control.
In all I'm very happy with it and I know my son will love it. I would have gone nuts on x-mas day if I got one of these when I was a kid. It is a bit expensive as a "kids toy" but a fraction of the cost building one up from a kit.
