Odd question...but I need a realistic-looking plush dog thing

I'm working on an Agent of Asgard Loki costume, and I really want to bring along Thori Deathripper, Kid Loki's pet hellhound from Journey into Mystery.

It's a long story...but basically, it's a puppy that drools fire and yells profanities. There isn't a lot of consensus on what it actually looks like among illustrators, just that it's small, grey-brown, and vaguely wolfish, so I'm not too worried about the exact details, but I would like something on the realistic side of stuffed dogs.

I'll worry about whether I'm going to try to put LEDs in its eyes later; now I'm just concerned with find the thing.

Does anybody know where I could find a somewhat realistic stuffed dog thing or puppet that looks vaguely like that? I'd also be open to trying to make one, if somebody could point me towards a pattern or tutorial. I can sew pretty well, but I've never done a plushie.

Well, if you don't mind spending the money, something like this could maybe work... You could always make adjustments to it as you see fit... http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-...&qid=1416797581&sr=8-35&keywords=stuffed+dogs or this one http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Republic...&qid=1416797581&sr=8-47&keywords=stuffed+dogs

If you don't want to spend that sort of money, though, and you've got good sewing skills, I would recommend finding a basic stuffed animal for cheap. Then you could take it apart and draft your own pattern from that. You wouldn't even need to buy one the right size or color... just find the right shape and then take it apart to see how it was assembled. You trace the pattern shapes and then scan them and blow them up to the size you want and print out a new pattern from that. This guy might work for that purpose.... wrong color/pattern, but possibly the right look? I don't know. http://www.amazon.com/Clanger-Austr...&qid=1416798850&sr=8-68&keywords=stuffed+dogs

Just a thought! Hope you find something that works!

Thanks! That's good advice, about using another dog as a pattern. I might try that...but god, decent fake fur is expensive. It might turn out that buying a nice one already made is cheaper than ordering fur...
