Obscure fighter in Ralph McQuarrie production painting

As you can see in this picture on Page #114 of "The Art Of Return Of The Jedi"
I would like to do a vacuum formed kit of this. With a few changes....:lol there is a squad of three in the pic, the fighter in the foreground is banking so you can see the nose is Y-wing like. I do not want that look on this, I love the look
the fighter could have by looking at the second fighter in formation. It's profile would suggest a point and I think that one looks slicker!!!To me this fighter escorting the big capitol ships looks like it's in the evolutionary line up of the A-wing!!!:lol

The canopy and canopy bulkhead I made as one piece,
once it's formed I will draw the canopy out on the pulled
part. Then I will carefully cut the actual canopy from the part,
fill it with clay and have a pattern to form the clear part with.

Great start. Shouldn't the nose be squared off? They look squared off to me in the book scan. Like this Awing . Either way looks great though.

Ya it is like I mentioned in my first post, I kind of fell in
love with the dead on side profile. That one insinuates a point
which I like better. I didn't want any type of Y-wing looking nose.:lol
Thanks for the kind words!

The Jedi portfolio was done after the production work. These are essentially what you said, variations on A-Wings to make them 'just different enough'.

This is going to be great. I love seeing your progress shots and technique.

Thanks dbhs:thumbsup

Ok got the hulls formed....

I had cut the canopy out totally and decided ......na weld it back in and fill it
then cut out sections to make the view ports. That will make for nice canopy
frame work and it will look nice and thick, as it's 2mm styrene. The clear parts or part can be glued from the under side, instead of having a big bubble
canopy. It will have that meaty thick look like the Y-wings canopy and frame.

that isn't a new fighter type, all that is, is an a-wing concept at a slightly banked angle from the others in the picture.

fine, do a spin on it if you want, but I'm telling ya, it's an a-wing
