Obscure but really cool props

I thought of another really obscure prop I'd love to have. It's from a Russian science fiction film, Planeta Bur made in 1962. It's also known as Planet of Storms, then amercanised in 1965 as Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet, and later in 1968 as Roger Corman's re-editted version, Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women. :love

This artifact always intriqued me.

I became even more intrigued when I had seen this movie long before this infamous image was transmitted from Mars-

While I love this film, my favorite Cthulhu statue is the Stephen Hickman Cthulhu he made something like ten years ago.

It was based on the cover art he did for a collection of Robert E. Howard's Cthulhu tales.

I have one other Cthulhu statue, one that used to be sold by Museum Replicas, made by Bob Maurus. He used to have a web presence where he sold other Cthulhu-related statues, but it seems to have gone away.

But my favorite is still the Hickman.

Yeah, The one above definitely looks like Grievous, the next one really looks like the Ogdru Jahad (sp?) from Hellboy......

Sorry to quote with so many pics.....:$

The talisman from The Keep, along with the staff it attaches too, as well as one of the crosses off the walls inside the building itself.

The KEEP was a great Moody film that Michael Mann produced back in the ages! I love that prop and that story! GOOD choice !!

OH my God - I remember Laserblast from way way back. I always wondered what the HERO looked like. They had a great story idea way before its time - no budget - and the worst acting I have ever seen. But I liked the Stop motion Aliens and their spaceship. It looks like the HERO was a box of car parts and acrylic tube screwed together with a few electrical cords. AWESOME ingenuity of a prop maker with no budget. Still they pulled off a unique design. :confused

THANKS for sharing these pics and solving the mystery.

Gordon

I was such a fan of the Laserbalst gun since I first saw it as a kid, was a bit of a letdown seeing the hero later.

Just watched SCREAMERS again last night myself. Thought I'd do a search here on the RPF and I found your post. Looks like they also had an auction for a Type I:

Autonomous Mobile Sword miniature - Screamers

That would be pretty cool to see... Profiles sold a production-made 'lighting stand-in' of one of these last auction:

Orig. Creature lighting miniature from Screamers

It was pretty cool looking...

I know this is probably a recurring theme, but I was wondering what obscure but really cool props you'd like to see done.

First on my list is the Rabbits Foot from Mission Impossible 3.

Next I'd like to see one of the Screamers from the movie of the same name.

What's yours?

Not too obscure with the geek crowd, but I would love a Gunstar model from "The Last Starfighter"

Thwomp boots or a Bob-omb from the Super Mario Bros. movie.

I would like a replica of the Arcade Mirror Hand sculpture from "Logan's Run." For some reason people all seem to want the gun, but I really like the hand. I have built it in 3D, and I've looked into 3D printing, but the company I asked wanted $700 for an 8-inch version coated with a chrome surface. I am looking in to Pepakuro (printing, cutting and assempling on paper) but I'm on a Mac and haven't successfully figured out how to unfold it, since the Pepakuro software (I'm not sure that's the right spelling) is only on PC.

Power suit from Spellbinder.

I agree with Sigma-LS, the Spellbinder Powersuit would be a great prop to have!

Another couple of obscure props I'd like to get my hands on are:

The Time Capsule from "The Girl From Tomorrow"

The Timegate from "Tomorrow's End"

Another prop i forgot to mention, i would love to have is the "Rametep" blowpipe from "Young Sherlock Holmes: Pyramid of fear"

I LOVE that movie, but I've never heard the subtitle "The Pyramid of Fear." Was that something tacked on to foreign releases of the film?

And I'd love to have replicas of the killer pastries from that movie.

Maybe it was only on european posters and covers:

Before the internet, i must have searched every possible recordstore to obtain the soundtrack, i LOVED (and still do) the rametep chant track, very Orff-like.

Eventually found a bootleg online in a newsgroup.

Ah, yeah, just googled. It was inded the UK title of the film, and the original working titled while being filmed. For some reason, it was dropped off the US release. Some countries apparently dropped the Sherlock and only called it The Pyramid of Fear.

Ahhh, pre-internet music hunting. I remember those days well.
