Oblivion (Post-release)

I want the concept art, so Target is my buying focus. I was disappointed that an "Art of" book wasn't released for Oblivion like Tron.

What is supposed to be on the 3rd Disc anyway?

Didn't find out but I think it was 3 featurettes or similar. There was a lot of stuff produced for the movie you can chase up online, so I hope they are worthwhile.

Best Buy doesn't even list the 3 disc set on their web site. :(

I was mistaken about Target having a 3 disc version, they had the 3 disc
version of the new GI Joe, not Oblivion.

Just finished watching it. Loved it more than I expected. The design was spectacular. And I even got the happy ending I wanted (although it took a little longer than I thought it would).

Well, Target in my area didn't even receive the version with the art book because we're in a "smaller market." :(

So, I got hosed twice (No Best Buy up here in the wasteland either). If someone gets the free book, could you
scan it to share?

I just got the Target version and the booklet came inside it. It's less a booklet and more of an insert since there are not many pages. Still, it had a few concept art images I hadn't seen online. It was nice to see that it had both the UV and iTunes digital copies with it.

Anyone care to chime in about the bonus disc from Best Buy and what's on it?

Don't know about the Best Buy disk but I can say "DUDE!" to the regular Amazon version.

Just watch the extra Combat and you will get the same feeling.

I watched the extras (both DVD & Bluray discs which had some different stuff) and listened to the commentary and I must say I really enjoyed it all. I especially loved the movie commentary by Cruise and Kosinski. Cruise added so much about the motivation and feelings underpinning a scene from an actor's perspective. The combat extras and such showed again that Cruise will do so much of his own stunts (like in Mission Impossible 4). Cruise is willing to give it all for the screen.

Anyone have info about the bonus disc from Best Buy and what's on it?

This is on the Best Buy extras disk. I've only watched the Drone feature, but it alone makes this version one to have.

Drone Generation
Time and Space: Inside the Odyssey
Beautiful Desolation
The bike of the Future
Shelter Below the Surface

Update -> Watched all the features. All are excellent, behind the scenes pieces primarily concentrating on the making of the stuff and locations. Right up my alley.

Almost bought the Best Buy version, this evening. BTW there are two different ones, one with the extra disc, and the other with a Riddick coupon. Choose wisely. Anyway, the reason I waited was that they'll give you $5 off, if you trade in an old DVD (anything) when you buy the Blu-ray.

Thanks for the info. Picking this copy up!

Yeah, the Bluray version features were decent overall, I just wish there was more of them.
They did a lot with the bubble ship but nothing with the pistol/rifles or the construction of
the costume itself.

If you got the DVD of the film, you got hosed because they left off the "Combat" feature,
which was one of the better ones. That feature wasn't even available on itunes, just the "regular"
3 you get with the DVD. :(

Just watched it the other night. It was kind of refreshing to see this sort of dark story against such a light landscape. Usually, dystopian stuff beats you over the head with dark sets. And I like the way the backstory played out, even down to the photograph.
