Limited Run Oblivion Movie Rifle - Second Run Capped!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

UPDATE! - I didn't want to get peoples hopes up, but now I think I can tease them a little. :)

Don't be fooled, there are still issues I'm dealing with, but thankfully they are not as often as before.

It seems the main issues I was having were related to temperature, I deal with it, by heating both the molds and the resin, but there are still some air bubbles and minor hiccups.

But I think by lowering my quality just a little, this run will finally get done.

You may have some cleanup, but hey, we're all model builders here, right?:)

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

If you're going to tease me like that you should buy me dinner first. ;)

Looking good, even with the issues!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

As a complete aside, are there any recommended paints/mixes for finishing? Totally need a new airbrush for this!

THIS... right here. This is what happens when:

1. Run-doers get into difficulties but persevere AND keep communication lines open.
2. Buyers stay frosty and understand that runs are done as a hobby, often in less-than-ideal conditions and can therefore take (a lot) longer than estimated.

The signup price for this piece, with the amount of work involved, is (was) a veritable steal. I was knee-deep in my own build when it got underway or I'd have jumped on it as well, but being heavily invested in Oblivion (with the pistol kit) I wanted to pop in and offer some compliments. Kudos to all involved thus far.

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

Even if you have more future runs, may not be able to join in but... I wanted stay that this kit is marvel of craftsmanship.
Just hope that all that receive this kit will have the same amount of care and love in owning one that you put into developing them.

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

Sorry! Had issues with my mother in law and hospital stuff, this week is about getting back on track, gonna buy more material today and hoping by weeks end to have some of the parts completely cast up. Trying to do it in stages, seems to be working, just a juggle with day job, family and various drama moments. I'll post more pics by weeks end. :)

Thanks for the update Mal.
Looking forward to the pictures...

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

Outstanding progress on the decals. If I have not mentioned before, I will be in for a couple of sets

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

Just wanted to mention, the only grey MS3 sling I could get was from the far east. The original source I got this from when Mal started the build is no longer selling these, but have just ordered another one from a new source. Will post on here if it works out ok. Also to note, the slings have black clips (as opposed to grey as per movie), but are closest I could find.

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

Very nice, did you make, modify or source? I could not find any with the light grey clips and had planned to spray the black ones
