Obi Wan weathering guide?

Hello everyone,

I've had all the pieces for an Obi Wan ANH saber for a few years and I've finally decided that I need to get this put together. I remember a few threads that we had here about putting one together and more importantly, weathering the grenade but I can't seem to come up with anything from any searches. Does anyone have any idea where I could find something to help? Also, can someone let me know what to cut down the threaded rod down too?

Also, I've wanted to add an ANH Han Solo blaster to my collection and I remember a site that sold kits but I can't seem to find that either! I know, I'm terrible at doing searches. Any help with this would be great too. Thanks a lot!

I know people here have done everything to the grenade from burying it in the ground to rolling it down the driveway!

Hopefully some people can chime in with step by step info and pics....great thread, btw.

I heated the steel body on mine with a torch then doused it in perma blu.then buffed it with steel wool and got a nice blackish brownish color.

I have done amonnia fumes on plenty of brass and it works well. The windvane and neck on the pic above was done by heating with a torch and applying perme blue also.

The emmiter in that pic is a Gav aluminium one done with aluma black then put on a threaded rod in a drill and rubbed down with a green scotch brite pad while it was spinning..(it is now replaced by a steel russrep)

Eazy off oven cleaner will do a job on the brass parts. The permablue stuff is great for steel emitters and grenades.

A guy called vapaad or whatever the spelling is (like windu's fighting style--vaapad?) posted a good tutorial on rebelscum once upon a time. Might still be around.

It's a Chen steel grenade so these tips are great, thanks! What length should the treaded rod be?
