Obi-Wan Kenobi Belt Buckle Prop Replica

Your prototype looks great. I will double check my dimentions though for you.

My only crit is that the buckle seems a bit thin for your prototype....

WOW. What I great picture do you have. THANKS. I will estimate again the size with that in mind. I never saw the belt buckle from that direction. I only got front shots. I really appreciate your help.

No problem Kyle. I have lots of reference images I have never put up, if I can help in anyway while you make these things just let me know.

Sure I will. I contacted a jeweler who is willing to do the job. He will prepare for me a budget depending on size and meterial. So I wanted to get an accurate blue print, thats all. Any help will be very usefull. I really appreciate your help.

I'm convinced that's a found item, though goodness knows what. It looks like a snap release from a suitcase, IMO.

cayman shen,
Yes, it is from a fancy shoe. We call them "estribos" in Argentina and we have some many models. But nothing like this one I am afraid.

Here is an example. Hope that helps.

Interesting, I was always under the impression it came from a purse, since the tabs when pressed released one of the side D-rings....

1cm seems about righ as well Kyle, I'd have to do some quick scaling to know for sure though.

Really? I never saw the orignal one doing that. Were you able to see it in person? I could take some photos from a catalog I found several "estribos" to show you.

First time I showed the belt buckle to a shoe maker he told me: "Aha, It is a "estribo", take a look at this..." and he showed me a pair of shoes. Then a huge catalog of them. I found several of them looking like this one, but none of them really accurate. Hope that helps.

I am open to new sources for this buckle. Maybe this guy was wrong.

The jeweler started to make the original piece using the measurements I posted. I hope to have it next week. I will post photos ASAP I can take them. Once I approved it, we will start to make a run of them. Wish me luck.

Whoops never saw you post this Kyle...

What has many myself and others believe this is a buckle was based on the fact that the tabs at times have the top one sunk in, not to mention that there is chrome peel on the bottoms of them, along with the fact that the center is hollow, evident by the seam in the middle on teh side view. Also the right side always looks alittle more pulled away than the left.

Granted this is all circumstancal since we can't examine a real one, nor a copy, but whereas it shares similar traits to a shoe flower I have never seen any of that design, nor one liek Qui-Gons, but that doesn't mean it isn't.

Look forward to seeing your buckle.

Not big deal. The jeweler was planning to do it hollow as well. And you are right. Since I am doing this from a picture ( never had the chance to see with my own eyes) will be a idealized version. But I hope that will be a buckle that anybody will be able to afford. thanks 4 your support.

This is great. I've been looking for these for a long time.

Me too Randy. The good of all this is that will not be very expensive. anybody will be able to get one for a good price. If you know what I mean.

It does open and is a working buckle. At the bottom of page 140 of the prequel chronicles there are 2 small pics of ObiWans belt showing everything attached to them. The second picture shows the buckle in the open position.

I can, and I have. Here you go.

My apologies for the moire pattern, best I could do with my scanner and the printing process used on the PT.

Justin I cant recommend the PT Chronicles highly enough, its better than DAG in some ways, especially for most of the other Jedi costumes, not so good for padme costumes of course.

See what happens when you doubt me, LOL.

Thanks for the scan jeffrek..

So I think this makes the whole decoritive object a moot idea now...Many guesses have been purse buckles and the like, so maybe one day we can popsitively identify it.

I gotta get this book.
