NSD Dalek Victorvulpine

Hello I have been wanting to make a Dalek for a few years now, but I had been working on a R2 off and on and needed a break from him. I was getting a little burned out on that build. I am building the bulk of the dalek build from1/4" black ABS plastic glued together with good old fashioned acetone.

I stared making a NSD Dalek awhile back. I started with a frame.

I was going to make it so the it would be powered by moving it with your feet, Flintstone style. But I wasn't happy with that so I cut part of my new frame apart and added some mods.

So I added a chair in to the frame.

I made it so the motor and seat can be removed if need be. and add a seat so it can still be powered my feet.

I had to raise the seat up 5.5 inches

I got my Heronair. Very happy with it, I ordered it from http://www.heronrib.com/ I am here from the Alabama plant here in the US. I called them and talked to a salesman, They do not sale to the Public but they will sale to the Dalek Builders, When he asked me what I was wanting it for and when the word Dalek was said he goes oh your one of those guys, hold on a minute. He then gave me a price and asked if I could pay with a card. I said yes yes yes. The price was the lowest I had found anywhere, at the US cost of 42 dollars for a 2ft.x7ft. and 15 dollars shipping. I had been showing my wife prices on line and she couldnt even say no to that price. They used Heronrib most of the time on Doctor Who but used Heronair on some of the Daleks.

I am making the skirt into two parts for easier transport and to get inside.

Here is a shot of the twist that anyone building a Dalek will run into. I learned this the hard way. and wondered if this was right but it is.

I started on the shoulders by flipping the skirt upside down and marking out the shape on the paper. Then drew out a template.

After I cut out the plastic I cut out the center of the base of the shoulder. Then I made the uprights for the top ring.

Them I made a template for the front and back skin of the shoulders. This will be the base layer the rest will mount to.

I started on the gun and plunger boxes.

I took a minute out today at work to cutt off the extra part of the gun box that was inside the Dalek shoulders. Now there in room inside for me to fit.
A friend of mine came out to see it and made a comment that the neck weighs about the same as the shoulders do. I will try to take some time out tomarrow to get the parts weighed out to see where it is at over all.

1654352_4221860400772_1863766751_n.jpgI worked at lunch and got to glue the front of the gun box on and put the gun in to see how it was going to look. I have one more part to machine and then bend the rods and install them. The gun will be done then. I used a magic 8 ball and a 1" metal tube then machined the part that mounts to the ball.
