not really a prop, but a lot of sculpting...

Holy crap that is scary real! Most impressive!

Guys, thanks so much for the response.... I have to say that I AM very pleased with how this one turned out. I love my other resculpts/repaints.... but this one just looks like Arnie has been shrunk and is standing on my display shelf. i love it!! (and I'm not easily impressed :lol )

what kind of clay do you use to sculpt your heads?

at the moment I'm using a 2 part epoxy called Milliput. It air dries in an hour or two and ends up rock solid. You can sand it etc.... but I'm itching to do some sculpts from scratch using Super Sculpey... I've been commissioned to do a John Lennon sculpt (and then that will obviously lead to the rest of the Beatles... not to mention their various looks/hairstyles) and I'm dying to do General Zod too.... but I've got to work my way through my existing commissions before I can do my own things..... and they're coming in almost daily at the moment.

I NEED MORE HANDS :cry

You are talented enough to show a company your work so we can end up with this quality..Very nice job :thumbsup

wow.... I think you over-flatter me. I'm hardly at that standard. But I do have fun taking these existing figures, and figuring out what is stopping them from 'being' the actor/character. and then trying to get them as close to reality as I can with my current skills.

maybe one day I'll be as good as you say :thumbsup

I'm not sure how I've missed this thread until now, but your work is awesome! I've always thought the Sideshow sculpts looked great but side by side with the resculpts they don't even compare. Great work, please keep doing what you are doing and keep posting pics!

Thanks fellas, seriously :$

I've started work on the battle damaged version, to turn this....

just marked out the areas to be resculpted, then I'll get to it when I get a few minutes inbetween commissioned jobs

ah yes of course, milliput! I used that to modify a han solo mini figure head into a deckard one. Do you make a resin duplicate of the head and then modify that? How do you achieve your skin pores?

Oh and have you modified a harrison ford head by any chance? I bet you'd do a killer job seeing that every han solo/deckard doll looks nothing like him :lol

apart from this one which is the best I've seen so far:

yeah, the first few I did I actually sculpted on the original.... but I figured that wasn't the safest way to go in case I ever wanted to try again from the beginning. So now I make a resin copy and sculpt over that As for the pores... i tend to make them smooth, just sculpting any wrinkles etc, but the pores are a happy accident from the primer that I spray can on before I start hand painting. At this scale it kind of adds the right texture. I've not done any Harrisons yet, and with the Sideshow Indy coming out, I may never need to. The tease photos of that looked really quite good

Yeno, after looking at the original head...

You have a great starting point if you ever decided to do a "Pulp Fiction" Travolta sculpt... :lol

Wow.....absolutely blown away by all of this...............you really do have an amazing talent.....keep posting your work.....as i said before....WOW!!(y)thumbsup

I love how the 1/6 collectors market has grown over the years.... a few years ago I couldn't have even dreamed of owning figures like this. :love

I'm putting together another Terminator figure just like my one there as we speak, and I'll be putting it up on ebay soon as an experiment. I've never sold full custom figures before, it's only ever been heads... and certainly never on eBay, so it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Oh... and I know a few people on here asked, so I'll be casting these Arnie heads in a couple of weeks hopefully. If anyone was wanting any, unpainted or painted, then gimme a shout in my pm box and I'll add your name to the list

I don't know how to put it into words, but other sculptors will agree with me. There are those who sculpt and just miss it but the sculpt is fantastic but the spirit is not captured either in the look or technique. Then there are those who can capture the spirit of the sculpt and you can "see" what they are doing.

You marry the two beautifully ! You've captured both the sculpt, but as you made evident in your simple repaint of Vigo, you absolutely capture the spirit of the sculpt...its what gives Vigo his look of awareness and Arnold's look of intimidation...you nail it and know how to translate your art into these paints. Amazing !

well.... i suppose I should post my latest bundle of joy, lol

When I did my above Arnie/Terminator custom... i knew pretty much straight away that I'd want to do this version as well....

so almost immediately (in my spare time before bedtime or on sundays.... too many commissions to take time out for myself, lol) I started planning where I needed to drill out, and what I needed to resculpt. Gathered tons of reference photos and screencaps, and set to work

anyway..... several weeks of sculpting, one resin test cast and a week spent painting the thing, and here's what I ended up with... the first 2 were taken late at night under the desk lamp... the rest were taken the following day using my better camera and a full close up flash to show all the details (and flaws?)

now I know the clothes all need weathering, but i just put this on the body quickly to take the shots. I'll get round to all that. And I'll be making a chest piece to show the battle damage through the t shirt too.

People have been asking me about these heads already, lol.... I'm making the standard Arnie ones as we speak, should be able to work through the waiting list at the rate of about 5 per week, but I won't have time to start these new battle damaged ones until sometime in January at the least. (too many already paid for commissions I need to get done)..... although obviously I'm continuously adding people to the waiting list... and I'll get to them ;)
