I was inspired when I seen everyone make there own costumes. So did some research and decide to go with the jedi tutorials robe, the easiest so why not start with that one. I still need to do some heming on the bottom but for my first robe i dont think it came out to bad.

Looks great for a first attempt. Heck. Looks great for a 15th. You have good lines. This isn't your fist time sewing is it?

Thanks alot i was pleasently surprised how well it came out too, and no this is my second time sewing. (no really second time) I see a few things i could have done differently but now i know

I especially like how full the hood came out. I see alot out there with hoods that like more like from a hoodie. Yours came out great!

Where did you find your tutorial? I altered an existing pattern, but yours looks pretty good. I need to redo mine in a better fabric.

Thank you guys and 1 lady for the kind words. So i hemmed the bottom and sides. Now all thats left is to make a tunic and pants but am torn on which way to do it. Bizarro this is the tutorial i used with a few alterations, one being the hood its approx. 25x50 inches. Also the material i used was linen or at least thats what the lady at JO ANN's Fabric told me and for the hem on my sleeves, i used the no stitch iron on hem so you wouldn't see stitch marks or any thread.
P.S. here is the link http://www.thejediassembly.com/tutorials.php?id=sh5

Your linen looks better than the stuff I used for my first robe - broadcloth! I know that they are technically supposed to be wool, but I've also seen some nice ones made of cotton twill.
I don't think stitches showing is that big of a deal, as long as the hem isn't too wide. It helps if you match your thread really well to the fabric. Another option I wanted to recommend is to leave the edges of the hood, sleeves and hem unfinished. I was watching ANH the other day and noticed that Obi Wan's look like they are unhemmed. I would assume that's either from wear and tear, or after all those years living in the desert, he just stopped caring and made his own that way.
