Non-canon Firefly / Serenity Props

OK, I finally finished my blue sun Cigar box, thanks again Great_Bizarro for the inspiration...

I also found a nice tall blue bottle today at a thrift store, so I had to print out that whiskey label...

I had already bought those Jayne sized shot glasses... they're actually for votive candles, but they looked like they'd be perfect.

Looks great. What kind of paper did you use to print the label and how did you attach it?

Thanks. The labels are regular printer paper (preinted at 600 dpi) and I just used some all purpose spray adhesive I had laying around. Then I masked off the glass and sprayed some acylic clear coat over the label to protect it a bit and make it look sorta glossy. From the picture it just looks like a beer bottle, but its really about 13" tall and 3 3/4" diameter at the bottom... and those shot glasses are a little bigger than most actual shot glasses I've seen.

Mine was a Redstone Meade bottle:

(BTW, that's 'Maker's Mark' bourbon in the flask. ;))

[/b][/quote]Wow, that's a very striking resemblance... I'll bet it's the same bottle

I wanted to make Jayne's Tequila bottle, but I just couldn't justify spending that much for a bottle of booze I wouldnÂ’t drink. I'm satisfied with this one. I might make my own version of the ETW bourbon if I happen across a good bottle.

I thought I'd post an interesting bill I found that I might change into a custom bill.

Take note of the fact that it is for Canton. Also note that the "coin" matches one of the coins used in Firefly other than the chinese characters that are on the coin.

I am thinking it could make a nice non-canon bank note with very little alteration.

I updated the "Reynolds" and "Harbatkin" front pages of my Serenity paper set to match the close-ups in the Firefly Visual Guide.

The line count and text look like the prop (I structured everything as seen in the original prop), but I replaced all the Trust Fund text with 'verse text.

Hey folks, I just had an idea for some new 'verse weaponry. Saw this little beauty in a book of antique firearms at Barnes and Noble the other day, and I thought it looked like a perfect fit in the Firefly world. 'Scalled the Savage Navy Revolver.

It's definitely got the civil-war feel, but it also feels quasi-futuristic, I think, with the unique triggerguard and cylinder. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any value-priced replica lying around - only several-thousand-dollar fireable black powder replicas. Any thoughts?
[/b]

If you check ebay for a denic replica named "Volcanic Repeating Pistol" you'll find somehting similiar. It's not a revolver, but it has a close feel to this gun, and actually has a bit of a Mal feel to it as well. The first time I saw Mal's pistol this is what I thought it was based on.

You can get ema on ebay for about $50.

Here is a real one, these go for about $14,000

Check it out, foudn a whole page of cool stuff.

Couple of highlights for me, that stood out as something we'd see in the verse:

Cool stuff. I'm sure they found good homes. :)
[/b]

Well, that first one is of course the LeMat pistol, which is what Jayne's gun in the series is built over. So..yeah, at least a similar gun found itself a good home. :D

That rifley thing is mighty verse-esque as well, no doubt about it. I think that's the standout of the bunch.

I can't believe I hadn't posted this yet, but I finished my take on Book's ident from Firefly...

It's as close as I could get it from the online pics ans sources I had to work with... and I completely made up the back side.

That's really nicely done. Except... you spelt Shepherd wrong... :unsure

Just like it was on the screen-used version. ;)

For those still looking, here's my version of the ship's papers:

http://rapidshare.de/files/32799685/Paper_2.jpg.zip.html

Not screen-accurate (as seen in Visual Companion), nor does it have "verse"-style text (a la Whitefall's version), but it is free.

My Fruity Oaty Bar wrapper:

http://rapidshare.de/files/32800069/FOB_Wrapper.pdf.html

The large green bars indicate the width of the sides, the thin green lines show where to meet and fold the back flap, so it looks like a real granola bar.

I advise you to shrink it down some before printing, because it's longer than a regular bar. Printing it at 100% will give you a 10 inch long bar.
