Noble Collection Neytiri's Dagger

So after months and months of waiting, Noble Collection finally delivered their Neytiri dagger (oddly enough, I got the shipment email right after watching the film on blu-ray with my sister, who asked when I was supposed to be getting it). I wont go into detail regarding the display, since Johnnyr2525 talked about it in his Jake's Dagger review. (http://www.therpf.com/f9/jakes-dagger-avatar-replica-review-85881/)

The piece for what it is is ok. The blade is somewhat translucent at the tip, and like Jake's Dagger based on Johnnyr2525's review, the handle is casted and there's no real braiding on the grip. But it's pretty lightweight and definitely feels like plastic/resin. There's also a cloth-like feather on the end of the dagger, which looks ok from far away, but feels kind of cheap (and I'm not sure how screen accurate it is). I suppose that's what you get for $95.

Those quibbles I could live with if they were the only problems, but I am COMPLETELY UNSATISFIED with the dagger, because it's drastically undersized. Here's a pic of it next to a ruler:

and compare it to this screenshot:

This is no where near as big as the dagger should be. The Na'vi are about 10' tall, which should make their weapons around a third+ bigger than human-sized weapons. Jake's dagger was huge when Quaritch held it, and one could assume that Neytiri's would be even longer since it's not as curved as Jake's. But at 14 inches, the Noble Collection version just feels like a moderately big human-sized knife.

And to top it off, the website blatantly lies, stating their Neytiri dagger is 19" long. That would be a pretty believable Na'vi size, but even that feels a bit short based on the screenshot. But advertising 19" but delivering a ~14" product is NOT COOL. It really pisses me off, especially since I've been waiting around a year for this dagger. I'm not even going to check for screen-accurateness at this point simply because the size is so off.

I'm gonna be packing it up and returning it soon. I'm extremely disappointed in this piece. (n)thumbsdown:thumbsdown Hopefully, someone will do a custom that will be accurate in size, and I'd be the first in line to pick that up.

Hmmm... sounds like they could argue that it's been resized to human scale instead of Na'vi scale.

Can you stand on a ladder and photograph it (6 feet+ distance to minimize perspective distortion) or put it on a bed scanner and scan it? I can't quite make out the blade surface texture, but in concept it doesn't seem too hard to make a larger version once we have the proportions down - assuming the dagger has been scaled from accurate blueprints in the first place.

Coming to think of it, 19" makes it a short sword for humans, right? The grip would be proportionately wider - and possibly too wide for human standards.

CSMacLaren, here's a pic at about 8 or so feet away without zoom. (it was the best I could do - I don't have the best camera)

I'm probably not going to return it until after x-mas so I won't have to deal with insane lines at the post office, so I'll probably try to compare it while watching the film over the next few days. I honestly don't know how accurate the details are on this piece, since Noble isn't famous for completely screen-accurate products. :angry

And I don't see why anyone would want a scaled-down replica... it's not like the dagger is sharp and functional. I could understand if these were produced for you to skin wild animals in the jungle, but I suppose Noble is marketing to more casual collectors who don't really care about extreme accuracy, based on the other stuff they have in their product line...
