Here is the beginning of the muscle suit sculpt, I am making patterns and building a few at once, in case anyone wants one of these costumes or they're bound to be useful for other costume builds.

I'm doing a Batman next so I will use a similar muscle pattern for him.

I love seeing turtle suits! Especially done with so much attention to detail. Great texturing on the sculpts. Can't wait to see one of these painted up!

Here is the making of the shell, quite an enjoyable process.

It starts with foam that I glue to be the shape.

Then I carve the edge details and shell sections.

I add a bit more foam to raise the individual sections,

Then after I carve in the rest of the details it is ready to be coated in latex.

Using upholstery foam instead of foam latex is very inventive and seems to work just as well for mobility and look. This is a great costume man, thanks for the WIP pics!

This was a moment I was looking forward to, the first fitting of the hands and trying the finger movement. Check out this video!

Very excited to get these painted up now.

This is incredible, reading through the thread I saw about the earth quakes. I was only visiting there from the western Island (Australia) a week before the quakes hit and so considered myself very fortunate. You can be sure that I've subscribed to this thread. Amazing work :)

Sorry meant to also ask if you sell the eyes separate, I have a turtle head like the 6:13 concepts one and for display would love some eyes?

Thanks guys, it's all happening quite fast now, here is the shell after painting,

I'll be making more eyes very soon and will take pics, I'm happy to discuss making them available for RPF members. Also I came up with a new idea to update the teeth so I'm looking forward to trying that out soon.

P.S it is still shaking here 1 year after the 1st quake hit. It is more unusual to have a day where there is not an aftershock that rattles the walls. I'm just glad I am making rubber suits not blowing glass or shooting stop motion. :lol

ok as promised here is how I make the eyes, starting with a sheet of clear acrylic then blow forming into a dome.

Then I stick in a flat iris from behind with putty so as to give the impression of a cornea.

This gives the eyes a depth and is just another detail that helps sell the whole fantasy.

And here is how I made the teeth, using a buck to vacuform the teeth in one piece then trim them out and attach into place.
