Nike Mag's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Here's a link to the full interview with Tinker about the shoes. In it you will clearly read that Nike DOES NOT intend to re-release these.
If they are honorable people, they will stick by that.
That being the case, I will continue to do whatever I can within the next week to win a pair.
My Conversation With Tinker Hatfield & Tiffany Beers About The Nike Air MAG | Marcus Troy

And I understand why Nike CAN'T ever release these again without offering something new as far as a feature.

But it was stated that these were being sold for charity.

Nike collectors are their own niche. I know there are some people who have spent thousands on Nike's and who probably own hundreds or even more Nike's.

Since they only sell shoes, they have never had to sell replicas before, which is where they were stupid in their thinking. They didn't realize there was a whole other niche of people like us who were desperately seeking something like this. Their punishment will be the millions lost because of their hasty decision.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

They wont rerelease these, they'll just release a better, power lacing version.
Exactly.

Then, NIKE MAG designer, and all around LEGENDARY shoe engineer (he invented the original PUMP shoe!), Tinker Hatfield came out to be interviewed by Joel about the MAG. Tinker insists that these are the first generation of the MAG shoes, and by 2015, the REAL Nike MAG will be released with SELF LACING ABILITY just like in the movie!

By 2015 I would hope there are more jobs out there that most of us could have more money lying around where we can enjoy that thought.

And honestly all Nike can do now to release a second run is accurately alter the design or features so not to nullify the shoes people just purchased. The most disgusting part is that now people know they will fetch money, so we will still have mouth breating campers sitting outside the store to buy them and hike up the price immediately until the market is flooded.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Lost my first bid attempt. I had a max of 2500 and now its up to 2800.
Though I DO see the average prices dropping each day, so maybe in a few days I can get a pair for my target price.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Yep exactly! They did afterall say this is the 2011 Mag, if they made at least a million pairs selling for 300-500 and at least a portion to the MJFF that'd be even better for the foundation, the more the merrier

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I seriously doubt we will see these from nike again. I have my doubts we will see a power lacing version in a few years too.

HOWEVER

Im pretty confident, given the hype and the money these are getting, that we will see these done by some factory in asia.

If Mark Poon can do it, seemingly with little resources... there will be others with better resources.. the amount of "fakes" out there already is massive and the quality is great.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I did think that was very telling that it was the "2011" mag.

Who knows what will come out in 2015. I bet they will do another BTTF shoe or event - something. I wouldn't necessarily count on them re-releasing this exact shoe again though; with or without powerlaces.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

this shoe will perfectly represent the HAVES and the HAVE NOTS.

Looking at the auctions so far (as I pointed out earlier) there are multiple identical bids ($ total wise) that very well could be the same bidder.

Just like the winning bidders the days before - people with too much money to spend.

Basically the folks who would REALLY appreciate them are way priced out of ever coming close to affording them.

Those same folks have the passion and dedication to hand make, or find someone to hand make them, so that pretty much anyone that wanted them could actually afford them.

Those same folks who have shown a never ending interest to own these.

Those same folks who have told Nike, and anyone else that would listen that they would love to own a pair.

Auction for charity? Good on ya Nike.

As its been suggested in this thread - make the first 1500 a Limited Edition with signature plaques, then make the next 8500 edition so the mass market could afford them.

As for not making them in an edition to appeal to the working class masses: Nike - EAT MY (SOILED) SHORTS!

Has there ever been any talk as to Back to the Future prequels or sequels.

A. It would be somewhat unnecessary to do a re-boot. BLEH! :thumbsdown

B. Robert Zemeckis's studio is out of business.

So what could they plan on doing for 2015 that might excite the fans?

It's the 30 year anniversary, every incident in the movie coincides by 30 years, so what could it mean?

Maybe they actually delve into Marty's kids and don't use Marty McFly as his kids. By now he would be old enough to have them, and since his future was unwritten, he could be successful and it could be a fun story. So long as it was written right and it's not a Seth Rogan/Michael Cera re-hash. They are funny, but this would need to be an action/adventure with a dash of subtle comedy, not the other way around.

I would just hope they are gearing us up for something bigger in 2015. A reason to release or hype up that year in particular.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I read somewhere a while back there is going to be a party/convention in the backlot and that they will plan on dressing the backlot to resemble the 2015 set pieces.

But that is what I am talking about, usually the 25th anniversary is the significant number to go by, but with BTTF 30 years is kind of the premise. Only George Lucas is cocky enough to do an anniversary every 5 years.

So there has to be something "secret" or I would at least hope they plan on doing for 2015.

If it were a full on Zemeckis/Spielberg collab on a new movie, it would have me excited so long as Michael Bay isn't involved.

It's the same way Disney went to all the trouble of showing hints at a new Tron movie, they dressed up Disneyland, had the viral campaign.

Hopefully this is a precursor to something fun.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Let's just enjoy and celebrate the movie on the 30th Anniversary, without any sequels or remakes/re-imagining/reboot of BTTF.

Also it will be a rare opportunity to celebrate the Part II future in our present.

And if you can make it to Los Angeles on October 21, 2015 then join the next biggest Back to the Future convention since last year's 25th Anniversary celebration.

If you are a huge BTTF fan you have no excuse to miss it. You have 4 years to plan and save up for the trip. We have lot of plans in store, that will make everyone's trip worthwhile ;).

It is not from Universal, but by the fans for the fans. And there will not be anything better than this convention for the BTTF fans.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Looks like the size 11 and 12 are fetching the biggest numbers by this third day - roughly on average about 4 to 5k.
The smaller sizes are staying around the 2 to 3k mark. I am curious to see how big of a drop we get in the next few days...

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I didn't meant to imply a remake or anything along those lines - more just promotional materials/events.

True, the 25th anniversary is the bigger deal but since the BTTFII 2015 future is such a part of pop culture i think they (Universal, Nike etc) will take advantage of it

Perhaps Nike will release a new Mag, or another BTTF inspired shoe or the retro 1985 shoe. Maybe Mattel will release some sort of special edition figurine, replica? Pepsi may release some special edition bottles.

It's all wishful thinking of course... but possible.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Look at the publicity/interest this limited edition auction run has generated. It's MASSIVE! I have no doubt, none whatsoever, that Nike is aware that there is still a market for a wide release at some point. If I had to bet, I'd wager heavily on a 2015 MAG (same as current replica) with a higher end, power laces model in limited quantities. The 'There won't be another release' jazz is to boost the charity sales; plain and simple. As long as there is nothing LEGALLY that prevents them from making more, and there isn't, you better believe that it will always remain an option. As far as the future is concerned, every internet nerd, sneaker freak, BTTF fan, blogger, etc. will be running stories about the MAGS in 2015. No way the year passes without Nike doing something. No way.

Patience.

And Hollywood is just as predictable as human nature. They see this as dollar signs now and want to know how they can bank off of it. Right now they have a hard-on for remakes and sequels.

So right now we have to consider what we would want more, a reboot, a follow up sequel, or just a release in theaters. Thank god George Lucas didn't own the rights because in the special edition/additions would be doctored beyond good taste.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I don't think a new sequel to the franchise would quite work in our current times. BTTF was really a product of ITS time and that is part of its charm.
There would have to be one helluva good story for it to work. My initial idea is it would revolve around Marty Jr and Doc.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Universal owns the BTTF title and can do spinoffs, but Zemeckis and Gale own the characters Doc Brown and Marty McFly, they have said that together they wouldn't do a IV but Universal can do some other BTTF movie if they wanted to only with new characters
