I think there will be substantially more than 1500 auctions, for the same number of shoes, due to non-paying bidders. Those prices are totally insane. Wonder if they will issue a follow-up press release when this is over, stating exactly what they managed to collect overall ? That would give us a good average price these went for.

Shortly before Fox's TV appearance and after a day of hanging out with Universal and Nike execs for the rollout, "Back to the Future" writer Bob Gale called up MTV News to talk about the development. Gale has geeked out with us before about "BTTF" memorabilia, including the Mr. Fusion he turned into a desk lamp, so we figured he'd be the perfect guy to lend insight into the new shoe's development and how it connects back to their first appearance in 1989. He did just that, as well as assuage our concerns that the Air Mags don't come with auto laces as Marty's did in the film. Be patient, Gale counseled us ... all in good time.

Gale: Nike wanted to do this in tiers. This is the beginning.

Maybe keeping a low profile at this time? Maybe PM him, shoot some of the wonderful pics his way and get his thoughts, but id be very careful right now, Nike may be looking to swat some flies on these now.

I was under the impression Mark is just the middle guy in getting these replicas to us... I had asked him a year or so ago about fixing some inaccuracies and he basically said, it is what it is and cant be changed. :unsure

I wonder if this is going to influence markpoon to make his "supplier" make more runs of these shoes in other sizes perhaps?

I have a pair of the mark poon shoe but they are very tight on me so I cant enjoy them, If mark were able to persuade his supplier to make more runs in bigger sizes, it would be a great alternative to the official ones.

But not that nike has officially released these, would that put mark poon or his supplier in any trouble with nike at all?

I think Mark uses a professional shoe maker. My guess is that the shoemaker has a basic sneaker mold and just works off of that.

I think if you were going to make a replica of the Air Mag Nike released you would have to start from scratch. The eBay pictures have some great straight shots that outline shape of the soul of the shoe. I think re-creating that would be the biggest first step - it is a slightly irregular and unusual shape.

I'm about a miilion percent positive no one will care due to the fact that I've seen PLENTY of replicated Nike Mcfly Hyperdunks within the past 2 years.

mark my words these shoes will be replicated.
