Nike Mag's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

So disappointing...

With Nike being such a huge company, they really suck at making fair quantities of their products.
Especially an item tons of people have been waiting years and years for.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

That was before the 1k+ bidding for every pair right? Well yes the shoes will all sell for a good buck, but i thought all proceeds go to the foundation, so how would this release really affect future Nike releases?
Surprisingly this was well after the pair that the auctioned AT the event went for $37,500. I got the impression that they were trying to gauge the interest in the shoes (beyond nike fans and bttf fans.) To be fair, thats a lot of reading in between the lines though...

Have you told him, how more profitable it would be to make it as a "constant" charity item? How much more Nike could sell on a regular basis, if they donate 20 $ to MJF Foundation and sell it for 100 - max. 150$ each one? That teh whole RPF is pissy about their selling politics? He should fire the marketing guy…

Hah, I wish I could have mustered that up - but I was one voice among many of his friends when we met. Really wouldn't be the best time - especially since I had to yell over the music just to get that out.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Let's start a petition to get them to release these commercially. I one of the videos St the event, they stated that it was because of the petition they got them to make these.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

The way poor fans were brutally punched in the face tonight? It's just disgusting.

Just being honest...

I don't think Nike ever promised a replica for the fans, I think they promised a replica to help the MJF foundation. Nobody should have been suprised, and really, without the power laces, what incentive is there to get these rather than the much more affordable replicas avilable? The fact these are actaully made by Nike? I suppose that's something.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

That petition I signed years ago worked?? Haha, most of the people that signed the original petition and made these possible, probably aren't even able to get a pair..:angry

I'm down for a new petition. :thumbsup

Btw, the auction faq says we'll need to wait until 2015 for power-laces. Are they serious or are they just messing with us?

These won't ever be released with power laces. When Tinker was asked by Joel about "why these don't have power laces", Tinker stumbled over his words a bit, but basically they just CAN'T do it.

The truth of the matter is, these won't ever be released commercially. UNLESS they alter the design so that they do not resemble the auction pairs AND make them functional/wearable shoes. It has been stated several times that these shoes are not meant for wearing. They even stated that at the event last night.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Well, obviously, I made my post before the details were released. Man, was I wrong! :confused

I've been at this sneaker thing for a long time now. It was, actually, these Nike MAGs that got me looking at sneakers aesthetically, rather than just footwear way back in '89. I own sneakers that were part of smaller runs than this. They were hard to get, and I had to pay more for the exclusivity, but it wasn't impossible. I've never done the auction thing for any of my sneakers, though. I was willing to go up to $1000 for a pair of these, not only for my love of the BTTF series, but for the love of this particular shoe. Nike has, undoubtedly, been aware of the clamor for these for quite some time. The facts surrounding this charity auction prove that. It was no mystery to them that the demand for these was substantial. Regardless of what they're saying, I think it would be a galactically stupid move to not make these available to a larger group sometime in the future. Not in a month, or a year, but I still feel that we'll see something in 4 years. With this event, Nike has just conducted a free market study as to the demand for the Nike MAG. I would expect a price of around $500-$600 (currently re-releases of certain, more beloved Air Jordan models from the late 80s/early 90s go for $150+, MSRP) and it would still probably be a limited run, as the general consumer wouldn't gobble these up at the rate people like us would, but I don't believe it would be as damned near impossible to get a pair as this release is.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

They were telling people all week, "It's not 2015 yet!" when people asked about the power laces. And it was an obvious deflect. I did get the real impression last night though that they were working towards releasing power lace shoes - maybe not Air Mag power laces, but the technology for the power laces is already in high demand - especially among the elderly.

When Nike does eventually do this, when they mass produce at a reasonable cost at least, I would bet there will be another BTTF2 call back. It might not be an exact Air Mag replica, but I bet it will be something.

Hah! The hit counter for my pair of excellent markpoon/pitbull shoes on yourprops.com has gone through the roof! Big surprise, I know. I think I'll with stick with those for now, considering that they cost 1/10 the price of the official Nike pairs which aren't really meant to be worn either.

Besides - $5000+ for a pair of shoes? okaaay....

Would have loved to get my hands on these!! Sad to see them being sold off by many others on ebay already!

Question is: Did anybody pick up any spares they would be willing to sell for what they paid for them?????

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I tried to get the Ceramic shoe but they didn't have any left. They were limited to 350.

I did get the NIKE MAG Pin.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

The small ceramic shoe? The website says they are being sold in a couple of Nike stores - select locations.

The girl that was selling them told me that they only made 350, but maybe that was just for the party.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Yeah that's what the website says. But I have read in several other places that these were all sold out at the event....

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I think nike hugely underestimated the demand for these things, i can understand the actual shoe being in limited run but cant fathom the ceramic figure being made to such a limited run.

This is the kind of thing they could of made a huge amount for charity with, selling it online or in the nike shops. I still wonder if as this run of shoes is only limited to the states will they ever do a similar auction in europe?

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I'm guessing this has been covered, but TMZ says that the first pair sold last night for $37,500.

Wow.

Yep. They had a live auction. The funny thing about that is that the word was buzzing arounf that there was the pair on Ebay selling for $75,000 so people thought these were going for MUCH more. Otherwise I don't think they would have sold for so much.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

That pair is also one of a kind and came in some gigantic plutonium crate and was going to be personally signed by Michael J. Fox.

But the were really pushing the pair that was going for $75,000 as leverage to get the bids up.
