Nike Mag's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

So I had a brief moment to speak with Mark Parker tonight (CEO of Nike) at the event. I told him that I have wanted a pair of these since I was 9 and asked if there was any chance that something may happen.

paraphrasing:

"i don't know - we gotta see how this goes, we only made 1500 pairs -- maybe by 2015 we will have the power laces - hopefully."

Doesn't really answer anything, but there it is.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Also should be noted that the mattel hoverboard they had there was clearly BTTF123's and I'm pretty sure the almanac was mark poon's.

That was before the 1k+ bidding for every pair right? Well yes the shoes will all sell for a good buck, but i thought all proceeds go to the foundation, so how would this release really affect future Nike releases?

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Damn without power laces the only thing the offer me over poons versions is they come in an 11. If i could get a replica pair in an 11 that light up that would do me, i only wanted the offical ones because i believed they had the power laces.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Strange, the one that was at $75,000 is now back to around $10,000

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I love MJF. And I fully support charity and research.

But the way this was done. The way fans were brutally punched in the face tonight? It's just disgusting.

I went from super excited about this, to extremely.. well.. i'll just say I'm upset.

What a bunch of morons in charge.

I quote you in everything!

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Totally agree! They definitely went about this the wrong way.

Why not have the normal version as something everyone can buy, and then have a limited edition version which includes cast signatures, special black charging case and if it were possible already, power laces.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Dunno if that has been posted, yet, but did anyone read this in the FAQ?

'The 2011 NIKE MAG shoes are not designed or intended for normal wear and use as footwear.'

Would be a shame if Nike doesn't come up with a retail version by 2015 :p..

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Well from some of the pics Fyfe posted, I kind of assumed that. I don't know how much use those shoes had gotten if any, but they were already falling apart. The leather (or pleather) upper was cracking and there were large cracks in the apparently foam outsole. Disappointing.

Those were the original shoes made for the movie, as a comparison :)

In Brad's photos, he separates the new shoes, then starts with a sub-title "Props" for other pics.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

The more I look at this thread the more i get pissed :angry

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

well i read this on the ebay auction, so i wouldnt even be contemplating buying these if they were available to the public right now:

Q: DO THE 2011 NIKE MAG SHOES POWER-LACE?
No. For the power-lace feature you will have to wait until 2015.

i fail to see alot of peoples upset myself, ok we all want these shoes but what they have released at the moment ISNT the shoe WE REALLY want. its nothing more than an endorsed official replica from nike..... Im sure it will be back with power laces in a few years when we hit the magic bttf reference times.

seems to me nike have made "x" amount of shoes at there own expense and simply donated them to make a good charity cause. 1500 pairs isnt enough to satisfy the fans and nike know this, so there of course going to say there never comming out again.......They want as much money now for them - its how we make people pay over the odds.........tell them there never comming again.....blah blah blah speech.

but when 2015 arrives - they will have to be released on a more global scale imo - it gives self lacing mechanisms time to come down in production costs therefore making it affordable for nike to profit

still a better option at this time to have a replica pair if there gonna sit on a shelf imo. if power laces are comming in the future simply put a mechanism into a replica built shoe. im very confident as time passess and self lacing shoes become available that other people will reverse engineer it and everyone will have self lacing components to retro fit.

weve all been here before with 50" tvs years ago.......huge cost when announced but as tech gets more common and cheaper the cost plummets. not long till we start seeing glassless 3d tv either the way technology is advancing.

ill wait for 2015, gives everyone enough time to save and be prepared - you know dam well nike eyes will be watching this anyway and they will see the demand is there for consumer enjoyment and not just a dollar figure

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

My Conversation With Tinker Hatfield & Tiffany Beers About The Nike Air MAG | Marcus Troy

Are there any plans to ever release them as a regular release later on in the future?

No. To preserve the value of what people will spend for these shoes and the money that will — and hopefully, again, that’ll be as much as we can get for each shoe, so the amount of money to charity is the most we can come up with — In order to preserve that, we’re not going to re-release this shoe and we’re not going to commercialize it any further. What you will see, though, probably sometime in the future is that there will be some– this shoe has already helped inspire some unique design features on some new shoes and we are committed to designing shoes in the future that do come alive and do sense your body and do certain things, so this is a precursor to the future of probably all athletic shoes we design.

WHAT?!?! I can understand certan aspects of it, but come on!

Have you told him, how more profitable it would be to make it as a "constant" charity item? How much more Nike could sell on a regular basis, if they donate 20 $ to MJF Foundation and sell it for 100 - max. 150$ each one? That teh whole RPF is pissy about their selling politics? He should fire the marketing guy…

Yeah, but I have a very baaad feeling that we're not only punched in the face, but also screwed over for life, if they don't do a second run…

I really want to start a new petition for those of us, who wants to wear them. Otherwise the RPF will reverse egineer the Mags!

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Looks like most people won't even be able to find and buy one of the small 4" ceramic boots.....

Apparently, eBay administrators have been "unable to verify seriousness of bid" for some of the more outrageous figures (who can blame them?) and have cancelled them.
Frankly, it's good to know they can see through some of the shenanigans that are being pulled by some who want to make things hard for the rest of us.

If you're looking at the one I think you are, there are more cancelled bids than there are 'regular' bids!

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

These auctions should've had you confirm with a credit card before you bid.

I bet you 25% actually sell the rest are non payers...
