Do not use his inverters they Buzz so loud
Was thinking it could also relieve some of the tension on the toe sole too that happens in the straight gluing method.
Thoughts?

The steam method simply changes the shape from a boot to a slimmer toe. Because the new profile is lower then the boot, there is extra fabric. I did get both some muffin top and some wrinkles on my wear pair, but it does not look bad. The wrinkles occur because the steam heats and rubberized material under the fabric and like a "shrinky" in the oven, it warps first. Apply enough heat, and I am sure (if you don't cook the toe if the shoe first) that this rubber would eventually shrink in size.
I would suggest that a bit of both the steam and cut method is going to get the best result. To date, I have never done the cut and glue method, just the steam method.
Buzzing inverters? Where we're going, we don't buzzing inverters.
The future is "light paper"
Thanks cavx. I think I will give them both at the same time a shot! I'll let you know if I ruin my wearing pair or not haha.
I'd start with the steam method and if you are not 100% happy with the finish, then cut the excess.

If it helps anyone, elwirecrafts cuttable el sheets are not usable for these replicas. All their other products are great but the cuttable sheet is not usable for a replica mag.
They have a massive half cm white border around the edges before the lighted area, and are useless as they will not fit in the soles or strap.
If they are cuttable, apart from the terminals, don't you cut the white boarder off? Is it possible to fold the white part under for the soles?
Which inverter you talking about?
As you can also see, that paint I used doesn't really last after some hard wear (this past weekend was SuperNova) which is quite disappointing. Perfect for display pairs though.
Yes and not really because it is vinyl dye, not rubber dye. I painted the sleeves of my 2015 jacket in a darker version with not a hint of peel or cracking because that is what the paint was made for.You talk about the VHT dye paint, right?
Maybe with a matt varnish it can last...
The thick midsole on the back of the V2s is actually more screen accurate. They're a little thicker than the movie, but the 2011s are thinner than the movie version.

Can some one post a pic of the back of the cup want to make a template for the HC cups and use foam to cut them out
Are you after the template for the heel cup or the letters?
im after the letters
last night I popped the rim of the base of the heel cup out and laid it over the top if the back of the heel. I then trimmed the edges round and glued in place.
The result is two fold where 1 it shortens the look of that blocky heel, and 2, it makes the upper sit up straight and not lean forward like the standard V2 does.
The process was really taxing on my paint work, so I will need to repaint.
