So is there no one on this forum then that does this for people that I can just ship these shoes to and have them do it?

I just don't feel comfortable doing this myself. I've never messed with electronics or wiring or these light things or nothing. I'd hate to guinea pig a $250 pair of shoes. I'm not worried about what someone would charge me for it. I just want to find a good trustworthy person that uses really good parts and can do it for me.
Im a noob to this also and wasnt comfortable doing the mods myself but thanks to rpf members tutorials and advice im pretty happy with the end result

No el wire, just didnt give me the shine I wanted through the yellow soles.

OK so EL panel. Cool. I have some on the way.

Still looks good wish mine looked like that. Hey cavx what's the deal with el wire is that easier to use.

Not 100% sure. It is flexible and looks fairly straight forward, but you won't get the brightness because from what I can gather, EL brightness is based on surface area. The plus to EL wire is that you could run it through the shoe with no terminations except the the start point where EL sheet will require solder joins at the sheet terminals.

Almost done. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Very nice work and detail, Jedifyfe. Makes me want to strip my shoes back now and redo the paint on those now.

I wish those that modded the real MAGs would have done their "art" to these shoes instead. I'd like to see a pair of these done in the Toy Story colours.

They look sweet bro! Have you submitted them to the sneaker sites - they might post the kicks on their site. Try SneakerNews, NiceKicks and SoleCollector.

And get them on the MAG page at FB :)

nice. Very original. What's the trick to tinting the clear(ish) soles?

The trick is to have someone else who professionally paints shoes do it. Lol. My friend did it. He also can paint the midsoles grey without it cracking or coming off. It's his secret.

hahaha he wouldn't get as much business if he shared his secret with everyone now would he? :D Pity for us down here in Australia who don't have someone like that though.

I think the trick with the grey is dab it on, not brush it on. What I noticed last night with my wear pair was that I was able to get the paint right in between the textured pattern on the midsole without having to apply the paint too thick. We shall see how this paint job turns out after these shoes get flogged all around SuperNova all weekend.

As for the outer soles, a paint is only a surface coat. Adding pigment to the rubber pre-casting is how you get it to stay forever.

If it works for wheels, it should for the soles right? Haha. Yea i checked my local Auto Zones and they have the VHT vinyl dye spray in stock for around $8

One thing that makes the RD MAG look so cool is the big ass Heel Cup. The V2 Heel is quite a good part, but probably slightly undersized. It certainly does not extend down far enough on the mid-sole giving the V2 a bit of blocky look from the back.

I have a pair of spare Heel Cups now and was wondering if it is possible to mod them to make a new part that not only adds the bulk but will also have larger MAG letters which are also too small. So my goal will be to correct that as well. I've just taped the spares in place and the left gives a much closer representation of the look I am chasing.
