Just did it now and got this
No tracking information for the shipment, or overdue tracking.

Hey Fellow Modders,

Thank you for all your fantastic work in keeping the dream alive. I shot a video with a concern I got before I proceed. The LEDs I bought aren't bright with a resistor. I wasn't sure if what I got were the right ones or if I actually need to have a resistor there.

Please see Nike Mags V2 LED Install - YouTube and let me know

Thanks

It could be some of your LED colours have a different voltage drop than the other colours.
If all the LEDs have the same voltage drop, then everything should light up perfectly even.

I get red, green and yellow from the same source in the UK, and use the resistors i worked out were required, and everything lights up perfectly when powered with 9v

I also use those exact same LEDs and just use different resistors if i'm going with a 3v setup and everything lights up perfectly again.

You may need to check your actual LEDs just to see if one of the colours has a different voltage drop on them. That possibly may be a factor.

Any seller should be able to supply you red, green and yellow LEDs all the with the exact same voltage drop. You shouldn't be having LEDs with different voltage drops, thats what may cause an issue.

You are right, the LEDs should be not be getting dimmer after a resistor has been added, they all should be uniformly bright.

I believe myy LEDs are 3v and I use resistors with the color bands (brown black black). Your LEDs may not need resistors BUT if you don't use the correct LEDs, then you will have the reds always brighter and the LEDs will burn out quicker.

I'm having crazy trouble as well, with tracking.. With karin chen.. I thought that you were able to track yours? As I said before, my tracking won't even show up.. I tried the tracking website that you mentioned, and I got nothing.. How did you track yours, if it's not ems... I have stayed in constant contact with her, and she keeps saying to wait till Sunday ANC if it doesn't show up she'll resend, but she won't give me an exact date when it was shipped... I know exactly how you feel dude! Could you try my tracking number and tell me if you get anything? EE920215040CN

i feel your pain!..... i am currently online talking to "karin chen" who has assured me my parcel that stated ( pending shipment from merchant ) meant it was sent and on its way to the UK.....

i however understood this to mean they hadnt even got the item yet from the merchant?...

i have looked at the tracking again and now my item is not found!!!!!

how the hell does that happen?... im starting to think it has never been picked up from Karin Chen, and i am being given a run around?

Bingo, I think I found my problem. The resistors I got showed up as 10K Ohm not 10 Ohm. With 10K I can only imagine that resists a lot of power thus why it's dim.

I asked her if mine was thru Singapore post, she said that it only goes thru that if it's going to the UK.. She also told me that it was Singapore EMS, and not Post, she promised that she would resend tomorrow if nothing shows up... I'll keep u informed and please do the same... It's always good to work in numbers!! Lol

god I hope I don't have these problems, Karin shipped mine out a few days ago. Although I would like to note that when I went to track it on EMA there was no tracking Info but then I clicked on the china link to track it and there it was.

yeah once you mentioned the colors on the resistors and I was wondering why it wasn't showing up. Have to order the others now. Good thing they're cheap on ebay like you said.

I'm not going to return the 10K Ohms because it'll cost me more to return them. Anyone have project ideas that require that much resistance?

If it helps I had a great experience with Rephot.ru -- Their rep name is Aimee who helped me. Reach out to her on skype and let her know that Cesar Ramirez sent ya. She said she would give discounts. Not sure what kind but she's always online at about 8amPST-9pmPST

I hope that helps

I always use 17track.net << as it has always picked up any tracking number for any shipping company for me.... even when the "official" website doesnt recognise or validate a tracking number....

well the update from speaking to Karin is..... to the uk she doesnt use EMS, ( even though that is what it states when you buy it) ..... she sends the item to singapore where it is then sent via " singapore EMS / Singapore post"...

i explained several times that i had been tracking the item for almost a week it has said " pending shipment from merchant" and now all of a sudden the tracking number wont even show this!!!

she constantly says " dont worry friend" and that its slow to update.... and yeah i get that,,, i have shipped tons of stuff from china before and so ive seen how tricking the tracking can be.... however ive never had an item that was tracked suddenly be not available to track?....

her only response was "system problems maybe friend"

ive left it with her to contact me tomorrow with an update,,, i know it takes a while to turn up and im totally fine with that,,, i just like to know where it is on its journey so im not having my time wasted!

yeah il keep an update on here as sharing is caring ;)

Just wanna share my new toe mod. I actually used a thin rubber foam material in between the fabric and the canvas like material and cut it to shape. I like it a lot but this doesn't look like this anymore at the moment as i deconstructed the whole shoe. Im changing the elastic on the laces part and making a different tongue/different swoosh, also making a different way to put in the sole EL's and its driving me nuts but i am having a lot of fun. So are you saying you used a thin piece of EVA foam to replace the standard toe?

If so, details! Haha did you heat your foam to shape it, did you just use a flat piece of foam? Any other pictures of your process?

Regardless of what you did, great looking toe!

TheNickFox, size pending, you can get a pretty decent result from using the steam iron approach. No need to cut up the shoes.

These are only size US8 and I think even better results could be obtained from a larger sizes. I am yet to do my US9.5s.

Right, I get that. Despite not posting here often, I still follow this thread daily, so I was here for the discovery of toe steaming. I'm just trying to figure out specifically what Optiprimo did, because his results are drastically closer to the shape of the RDs than any other toe mod I've seen.

Personally, after doing the heat toe mod, my personal opinion is to do both. First cut the toe material then heat treat it. I will be doing this from now on.

It sound like he has cut the toe, taken the rubber toe box out and replaced that with EVA foam, then glued it all back down.

I will make a pair of lasts from 10mm EVA foam and see how the toe box takes that shape rather than use a sock like I did with the smaller size US8s on display.

I can't really see anything different in that picture. It just looks like a normal toe or similar to what Caloss did previously. You can see it hasn't even been glued on yet, not to mention the picture is in the shade, thus giving it a different look. Maybe it looks better in certain angles, if there are any more pics, that will be good to see.

What I have found is that you can try all you want, but its very difficult, if not impossible to make the existing knockoff toe look exactly like the original 2011 release because the front of the grey midsole is simply too short. Cutting them open, and regluing or steam ironing them is the best way at the moment.

The front side of the grey midsole starts of higher and goes smaller as it gets to the front, whereas on the real shoes, they start off smaller then get bigger towards the front of the grey midsole.

I do have one pair i'm working on where I have built up the grey midsoles at the front, I just need to spray them now, and I will post up pictures.
They seem to look a bit better now than the shorter front lip.
Although until I put the top section on, you can't really tell if they will look perfect or not.

Tonight I decided to mod the toes of my wear pair (US9.5) using the steam method. A different result to the smaller US8s where because of the larger size, all it did was lose some of the rounded boot toe and not much else. It certainly did not take the shape (which I quite like) I got from the smaller pair. So I ended up layering a sock in each and ironing the toe flat rather than follow the shape of the shoe and this is the result.

It is now way flatter than before, but I did end up with a few small wrinkles. To make the toe flat, the material must fold over the edge of the mid-sole at the sides of the toe box and I think Jedifyfe's comment of having to both stream and cut is very true at the larger sizes. Anyway this is now much more "sock type".
Here is a comparison of how the side profile looked before.

My main concern here was that my toes would be uncomfortable in the flatter toe. They are not as there is still plenty of room in there.
