Does anyone have an extra set of the stock (non LED) V2 straps they don't need? Looking to upgrade my HC Mags.

I don't think too many people replaced the strap. I cut the embossed NIKE logo out and replaced it with the black on clear (with white backing) logo.

You might have to make a part from scratch.

I thought this was a cool custom job. These shoes are usually $225+, but alixpress has replicas for $80.

a collection of some Mags I managed to get some good shots of with the lighting on, its quite hard to capture them correctly unless you have a decent camera (which i don't!).

What did you use to apply the splatter. You have much finer lines than my attempt.

Also what colour did you use?

I mixed equal parts of blue and green.

Once dry (like you can see in this photo) it looked too dark, so I mixed some white into the paint mix and whilst probably too light now, I do like the colour, just my splatter is to course.

So these will need re-doing...

Take a paint brush and cut the bristles to a very fine sharp point. It takes a while to complete the splatter, but the results are great.

Hey airair, did you inform the factory that the ankle bubbles need to pop out? The standard V2 bubbles are flush with the heel cup.

Hey has anyone gone for a screen accurate slim toe instead of going for a rd mag look? The shoe in the movie has a really empty look to it's body where as the rd mag has obvious foam build or whatever it is they use, I've been looking at other nikes and the films mags look a lot like nike roshe (slim toe is what I'm talking about here) where it looks like more of aock that fills up with the foot rather than having some sort of reinforcement has anyone gone for that look?

I did use a very fine brush as well as a sharp spike. I have a day off tomorrow so I can probably strip these back.

I'm sure airair said that only tge cloth parts change. They are not making new rubber parts.

You need to see the pair airair did where he completely removed the toe box.

I'm talking about a very fine point. If you think you had a fine point with the results you got, then you need to try a little harder.

If the paint was too runny, it spread. As it began to dry, it became thicker, but also began to skin and would not let go of the applicator.
I am thinking either loading a syringe with a 0.5mm needle or even a bag with a pin hole in the bottom and run a test with that.

Hi

I used a small paintbrush.

I had to mix light turquoise with a tiny bit of black and some blue.

It came out fairly close to the factory paint.

I've done this on several pairs so the toe box is just the fabric and doesn't have a hard piece in there any more.

Even after that however, since the grey soles are too low at the front, you still don't get the accurate look. The grey soles on the v2 and HC shoes are too low at the front and have a downward slope when it should be upward slope.

It doesn't matter what you do to these V2 replicas or HC or whatever. There is no chance whatsoever you will be able to make a screen accurate shoe unless you create a new sole from scratch.

The best you can do is to change the lighting, and flatten the laces, slim the toe and thats about it and for most of us its more than enough. Add some clear soles and job is a good one.

On the screen used shoe, you are right in that they used a Roshe type sock toebox. You can see the end of the foam uppers line near the front of the toebox. Its just fabric there, and the screenshots show how the toes poke out.

The 2011 shoe doesn't have this, although I have seen some 2011 pairs called "Family and friends" which come in a black box, rather than yellow one. These ones for some reason have 1 shoe with the EL Panel in the soles unseperated, and have 1 shoe with a sock toebox. A bit strange why that is, but i've seen at least a few of these pop up on the web from time to time. Maybe those could be a "sample pair", but Nike themselves therefore did actually try the sock toebox method before deciding to go with a different and more solid toebox on all the 1510 pairs they made. Maybe they felt a screen accurate toebox didn't look right.

here are some pics of that 2011 shoe which has 1 foot with a sock toebox. So Nike obviously changed their mind on the final look for the 1510 pairs.

Where did you find those images? As much as I like the sock toe on the screen used shoe, those just look wrong. I'd have to say they made the right choice for display shoes.

EDIT: Actually, after finding Nike MAG friends and family on YouTube, I have say it is a shame that both shoes don't have the sock toe. Maybe the angle and light, but they looked great.

It looks like the strap is a slight bit wider and the tongue slightly longer.
