I have a pair of Mags that I got the hair dryer too close too the upper fabric and scorched the right outside toe box. I'm considering doing a black pair of customs. Does anyone know of a good fabric paint or dye to use? Any help or advice on things I could do or use on these Mags is appreciated.

Re fabric them and they will come out great once leather uppers are removed the trick is to iron the shell once over until soft / then peel off the top layer plus the puff material inserted for the lace pattern on the side / once done re spray shell with krylon tack none wrinkle spray and apply fabric.Re stitch using same factory stitch pattern /shell complete quick fix. i will post picks of paints and tack on spray shortly.

I have the cloneprops heel cup set from what i can see by eye the heel cup is bigger than the V2 heel cup. So the size difference should compensate.

Hahaha. Yeah. I like the modded MAGs a lot. It's like the hunt to make these better and better. I rarely take my RD Mags out of the yellow box that is inside the double packed brown box.

Exactly, I understand why you keep them tucked away in their box.

I just had an idea, I think it would be awesome if they made some Mags with green glow in the dark colored soles (still see through but with a soft lime green tint). Wouldn't that look sick with some white EL's behind it!?!?

Thanks. I used Tamiya grey fine primer and just walked around in them. No chipping or scraping off at all. I am thinking if painting the entire shoe now.

have you tried a jump and scrape on the pavement test?

i might try one!

come to think of it, since the bottom of the v2s original rubber gets worn down very quickly, a coat of primer with sealer should certainly last a long time.

A lot of those custom sneakers seem to be done with acrylics and sealers, so i'm guessing they must last very long.

Thanks for the tips Caloss. The valspar spray primer is latex based similar to your previous suggestions with the bullseye primer, so sounds like a good way to do it.

It might be good to compile a list of various spray primers or paints which are latex based, as i'm not sure some brands list them in their information, eg the Rustoleum primers,or other similar ones.

Okay guys here is the trick to spraying your shell with paint and for it not to chip off or crack /1st you spray shell / in a place were the sun will shine directly on it / it will bake the shell plastic witch will make the pours open and stick better > once sprayed/ Mod the speckle splat pattern then spray 2 coats of clear Matt finish spray paint >This will lighten the grey to the true clay color plus it locks in and coats the speckle splat pattern / Let dry in the sun for 30 to 45 min/ final step /Take the the sprayed items and place them somewhere Cold or put a fan directly one it /Let dry for 48hrs /this will complete the paint bonding process to the plastic or rubber sprayed areas. F.Y.I. Spray light and careful coats/ Not to close..

how light is your grey compared with the standard v2 grey?

I think Jedifyfe can maybe give an accurate colour sample from his official Mags to get the same or nearabouts colour of the authentics.

Look close at the shade difference/ My custom paint is lighter but take in mind the matte finish and splatter is not applied.Once applied the paint will change to a whole different look = less gloss plus extra layer protection . Splatter until your content /I personally had a photo up of the RD Mags /Skills needed good eyes and spirit fingers but jazz hands will do. You don't have to be Picasso to pull this off.

I agree Caloss. The lighter Grey is better to use. My Tamiya grey primer is spot on to the RD's. What's done is done. No going back now...

Thanks Taff. Yeah I only sprayed about 3 thin layers and it completely cover it. I started the paint splatter.

Do you know if the tamiya spray is latex based?

The primer that caloss has suggested is latex based so in theory it's supposed to stick well to rubber allowing flexibility and less chance for cracking.

It looks like any fine spray primer will be ok since the shoe will only really be flexing near the front half when walking.

I might try both sprays and see it there is any real difference in terms how much effort ie needed to scrape and chip them.

How's it going guys? I've just stumbled upon Mag Modding, running into one of Jedifyfe's Videos on Youtube.... One of those life changing Moments Lol.... I want to thank you guys for your great work, research and advancements and for being so open with your ideas and work. I bought a pair of Mags and want to get started but my question is, I dont have a Dremel, does anyone recommend a certain speed or will any old one do?

hay fam how long does wire glue take to dry so you can move the wire and panel around with out it breaking ?????

I would say that wire glue dries within a couple of hours. Though it depends on how thick you applied it. Maybe wait 3-4 hours to be safe.
