I finally sat down today to solder this all together. I saw from the instructions that you're supposed to run a "new wire" from the battery pack to the micro switch. My kit did not include an extra wire for this purpose. How are other people achieving this? Are you using your own wire? Alternately, is there enough extra wire included in the wire/inverter piece that I can use a section of that and still have enough wire to connect everything together?

This is my first time soldering ANYTHING, so I want to make sure get this right. Thanks!

Okay cool. I informally measured it out and there does appear to be plenty of wire at the non EL end. Just wanted to be sure. I'm not mechanically inclined, so I wouldn't know what kind of wire to buy if I had to acquire my own. Looks like I won't have to though! :thumbsup

about to do this upgrade, then realise the HC mags have a sewn strap... oh dear... what do i do? apart from having to undo the stitch and restitch?

I used and Exacto-Knife to separate the strap and noticed that most of the stitching stayed in at the time but is slowing falling out. Because of this, i have decided to do the trap myself without the stitching. Here is a great how-to video by a fellow member.

Does anyone have a spare inverter/wire set they're willing to part with? In an effort to have shorter wires for a better fit in the buckle, I stripped one of the wires too short and now it's useless. Alternately, does anyone know where I could buy just the inverter and wires? Mark doesn't sell them separately. I'm an electronics novice, and I have no idea what to ask for exactly. I took it to RadioShack for what that was worth, and got only blank stares.

I purchased the kit from Mark and everything worked perfect. I decided to re-solder the wires connecting to the EL contact. I accidentally soldered too thick so decided to remove the wire. In the process I accidentally clipped the tip of the EL contact. Now the logo no longer seems to be taking the current. So

Basically my contact strip is damaged and no longer lights up. Is there any recommendation for a replacement contact strip or how to repair this. Can I buy a contact strip and replace ? If so does anyone have any recommendation on where to get it. Thanks in advance to whoever can help.

I presume the soldering process won't melt the wire tape in any way? I'm on the last step of the soldering stage, and just wanted to check on this before I proceed.

Hey jhk1976You can heat the back up with a blow dryer and peel the wire tape (two copper lengths) and then reapply them the opposite way or you solder the wires like the other strap and just place them behind the logoI personally used new wire tape because I had some
