Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

Hey guys, I'm new here but I need some assistance.

I've got pair #150/1500 of the original 2011 release, but I'm too paranoid to wear them. As such, I've gone through replicas like crazy, V1s and V2s, which are all well and good, but I just picked up a pair of V3's from sneakerahead, and after wearing them twice, the lights have stopped working.

They're sending me a replacement pair, but I suspect the problem will occur again.

I've heard that somewhere in this thread a few of you have had the same issue with the wiring caused by flex while wearing them? Is this correct?

Also have any of you attempted repairs on the V3s? If so, can you point me in the right direction so I can see what you've done?

Lastly, I remember seeing a while back that there were a few people modifying V2's into screen accurate working replicas, is this still a thing? Do people still do it?

I also have the V3's but haven't worn them yet. You will find lots of info here about modding and fixing the shoes, a lot of people have failing lights in the V3. As far as I know, no one has an actual 'tutorial' on how to fix the V3 yet, but if you look back a little bit, you will see that people have been cutting these open, looking at the electronics, changing the soles, etc. I'm sure there will be much more to come on fixing and modding these.

I think I'm missing your point from all this Axel84. Are you trying to rally the people here to not buy the shoes at David's current price in hopes that the 10-20 people will change his mind? Or are you saying that unless he sells them for $100 that you'll consider buying them. Or are you just complaining?

These are the same arguments that MANY people brought up about the V2's when they were selling for $300-$400. People still bought them. Many people waited for the price to drop and it never did. People would complain about the inaccuracies, the lights failing, wires breaking and horrible toe box but it never stopped them from buying..

i get about 20-30 DM's a week on Instagram and YouTube asking where to buy these shoes. I point them to either Airmagman or David. 99% of the people don't care about the price. They just want these shoes. That tells me that the prices aren't going to anywhere.

The he reason the prices are $450-$500 isn't because it costs that much to make or because David is greedy, it's because 99% of people are fine with this price and a large portion of those people haven't had issues with the shoes or they are just displaying them and would rather pay $500 than $6000.

When I do the math, for a V3 + a Replacement Pair (i remember them giving the replacement for 150 or 120 ?) , i would findout that a pair will cost about V3 500 + RP 150 = 650
That total price (even adding shipping for a RP at 50$) would make 1 pair for 350$ (with a half box and posters )

So My guess is that the cost of ptoduction is between 100 and 150$ Max. Then, the price can be less Than 400 for a pair.
But, without someone trustable poping up with a real good price, the price market won't go down... No real concurence is why these stays at 400/500$

I don't understand why you always have to be so defensive every time some guy raise the money problem. Are you scared that David is going to stop to produce them because of it? Or maybe you don't want the price down so less people can afford them so you are going to be the only Aussie with fake mags on your feet? That would be the very same concept we ve been fighting for: #magsforeveryone.
They charge $100 for a replacement pair and they still make money out of it FACT.
How much do you think they are overcharging these? I could pull the trigger at $280 and I would still feel stupid but $500+ for something which is going to break in a week? Are you kidding me? It's about common sense, not passion.

Correct. The US9.5 is actually a US10. There is no US9.

we have to remember..getting set up to produce these shoes is a expensive and long drawn-out process someone had to put up half a million to a million dollars to make molds and Prints and design these boxes so that we could have perfect replicas that everyone has been whining and complaining for now we have them and you expect the people that did all the hard work to actually make it happen to make Pennies on the dollar somebody has to get paid back for that initial investment. As a business owner myself who designs products I understand there is more than just the cost of making the shoe now and if it cost him 150 to make 450 is not a bad margin so me myself I'm paying it and when the lights go out ill fix them. There are many other Hobbies that cost less money

Yes. The 2.0. But I made 2 changes. 1. I painted the sleeve buckles black and 2. I added 2 of the black clasps to the bottom sleeve straps.

Totally agree with you.

I've personally owned three pairs of the 2011 Nike Mags, I didn't have them in my possession by the time I bought the V3's but damn are they close despite the fabric material being off. It's not necessarily a night and day difference, however if there was a side by side, it'd be looking at a flat smooth fabric versus a spandex type material (V3). The lights and the shape of the midsole are slightly off, as well as the height of the collar.

Aside from all these differences, I've highly considered buying V2's for 1500-2000 when they started getting modded to their full capacity. I watched the movie when I was 6 years old, I've watched it 50 times over since. The scene never EVER once lost that glimmer of hope in my eye to owning a pair. I shared with Jedifyfe I had to sell my car to get the three original 2011 pairs when I was 22 years old.

To end this sob story, I'd buy the replicas over and over again, despite all their problems. My originals had problems, but I wore them in the rain, I played basketball in them and I skateboarded in them. The charging port broke after a certain amount of time. The foam material at the bottom shaved off completely until I was only walking on the rubber pods. At the end of the day, they're shoes. If you want to display them in a case, and enjoy their presence from a far, do so. If you want to wear and beat the living crap out of them, do so.

Easily one of the most justifiable purchases this year, considering I'm at no capacity and will absolutely not pay 6k for a pair of shoes until I break a quarter a million dollars in salary.

Just my 2 cents.

They are not going to fix anything other than improve the connection of the EL panel in the sole.
The rest of the shoe is very solid and well made.
Pricing is unavoidable, but the fact is, its a more or less 1:1 copy of a 2011 limited shoe that is extremely hard to get hold of other than paying $5000 upwards.

I am still in process of modifying my EL panels so they are closer to the V3 ones.

That's actually all I really care about too, mate. I know the EL panels are a bit dim, the sole isn't blue or is made out of a rubber compound to reduce yellowing. The fabric of the upper isn't accurate to 2011 or 2016 release... and I don't care too much about these inaccuracies honestly. I just want the electronics to not give out. I talked to one of David's people and they already know about the issue. They do promise to fix this but... eh maybe in the next batch? It's hard to know with them. The best thing each individual person can do is complain about the issue to them. Make it visible that it must be fixed.

Also to everyone saying the price is high, no one disagrees with you. It's not about defending the price, it's justifying why it is so high and whether your want for the Mag supersedes the empty space in your wallet. Guess what? A lot of people, huge aficionados here don't want to wait any longer to get a shoe they've wanted for years. So just stop with the pissing contest over it.

ok so theirs a lot of talks about price points as of late.

Now i didn't want to say anything till i received them but i also have ordered a pair. Not from David. Total amount i have paid is $381.60 for them and i just received the tracking number yesterday. I will not mention the site until they arrive regardless of being the v3 or getting scammed. Taking a bloody risk here lol. Just don't want anyone else to make a mistake if they turn out to be some sort of V2.

However i will keep everyone posted.

So far the differences in service i noticed is that davids team are willing to send photo's before sending the shoes out. where as the guys i bought from kept saying they will but never did. Blind faith right here lol.

PSA: Do not buy the V3 listed on youtuone or shoesgooddeal. They are placing tagged photos of V3s but pulling a bait and switch for the remote controlled Mag replica variant with a light up strap. I hate to be right, but these V3s will not come cheap no matter where you search, so don't fall for the too good to be true prices. Of course, not that anyone here isn't already on the cautious side.

Couple of thin coats with a brush. Angelus is shoe paint if you didn't know.

I don't think anyone is being defensive, but you have to realise, they are counterfeit sellers, they are not in the line of business to help you out or to save you money.
If something is shoddy or broken, they may or may not fix it, and there is nothing you can do about it.
It is entirely up to the factory to decide what to fix or change.

That is the reason why you see so many versions of replicas. They change one thing, but miss things out, in order to keep making new versions and keep making sales.

Now yes, the pricing on replicas can be ridiculous but that's life.


I very much doubt these shoes will go under $300, maybe later on, but demand is high and so they will sell at higher prices for the near future.

I wouldn't mind a version without any electronics but that seems too niche to happen but more realistic than asking for a version without a sole. I know people often say the RDs are fragile too but that was an oversight on Nike's part that they could get away with because it was an unconventional release. Same thing with the new autolace 2016 Mags. If those malfunction then Nike will say "well this isn't a conventional sneaker release so sorry but no take-backs". The factory for these replicas should at least make them as durable as the 2011s because it seems some pairs are even flimsier than RDs. It's not like people are throwing these out of cars or anything, they're just walking around in em. I'd like to think that if kid's light up trainers don't break when little snot nosers jump and squirm around in them then someone at these factories can make the lights more durable on these high quality fakes.

I've had my V3's for a while now and the lights haven't broken yet (fingers crossed).
This might be just luck, or it might be helped by the special insoles I put in, as when I put them in to my V2's to fill them out and give better cushioning (as when most of us bought them, we didn't realise they ran half a size big) My V2 lights lasted a really long time. So I did the same to the V3's in the hopes it might have some effect on extending the lights life. So far, so good at least (though it's not like I wear them every day and I'm definitely not rough with them) and swapping out insoles is the easiest "mod" you could possibly do.
However, it's not easily possible to prove that this makes any difference to the life of the lights, my theory was that the hard plastic plate in the midsole evens out some pressure points on the underside of the shoe. Maybe if I got 2 extra pairs, swapped the insoles in one but not the other, then alternatively wore them both every single day I'd find out which one breaks easier. Wish I had $1000 US spare for that experiment
