Yep you got that right, I was up in central QLD at Xmas 2012 (not long after the V2's arrived) and they were very warm to wear. At least hi-tops are a little more common now, though the majority are still what we would call "mid-cuts". Some basketball shoes have good ventilation (like Jordan 6's) but since the MAGs were always made as a 'prop' I expect that was never considered. Even super tall shoes like the Under Armours aren't as tall as Mags.
